(***) *** paid AFS Foundation Repair $756 deposit on 2/5/20 for work 2/12/20. No workmen showed up that date. So return my deposit.
See below
Certified letter 2/14/20 concerning my deposit not answered or even picked up from PO. AFS owes me from 2/5/20 $756 deposit for work promised but not completed 2/12/20.
My deposit check for foundation repair was returned by FedEx today. Please show this was complaint as resolved for AFS.
I contacted AFS to make my garage and basement waterproof. I would get 2 to 3 inches of water in the garage every time it rained hard.

Wow what a awesome team of working men. Can not be any happier with the quality for work. After 3 days of rain they solved my problem. Not one drop of water anywhere.
Tim thank you for you professionalism and saving me a lot of money.
People like these 4 men are what makes AFS.

Mr., thank you so much for the kind review! We are glad to hear you are happy with the work that was installed!
These people *** Don't trust their slick presentation, their patented process, their "thorough" on site job review, coz they think it's okay to back out of a signed agreement after 4 weeks of dilly dallying around and gradual walk-back of what they signed up to do. I wouldn't mind if they had said up front they can't do the job. I even wouldn't mind so much if we'd entered into the agreement and then they had QUICKLY come back and said they had reviewed the site and discovered previously unanticipated problems and they would have to back-out. Instead it took almost 4 weeks after they first came to do the installation before we got to that point.
Mr. we sincerely apologize for the frustration the situation has caused you and your wife. We would never want one of our customers to spend their hard earned money on a solution, we know is not going to work. Based on our conversation with you, the home was purchased in September. Unfortunately the previous owner didn't disclose that the home did not have a functioning HVAC system. Upon discovering this, an HVAC company was hired to install the appropriate duct work in the crawlspace. Due to the crawlspace only having a few inches of clearance, multiple trenches had to be excavated by hand under the home by the HVAC company. That's when the water issue was realized. Due to a portion of this home being constructed in the 1800's, there is no foundation wall, which would allow water to freely flow under the home. There is also a creek that runs through the yard just a few feet away from the home, which could easily become overwhelmed during a heavy rain and flood the entire crawlspace. For these reasons AFS decided to not move forward with the project as proposed and have refunded the deposit. Also at time of our site visit we suggested that a Structural Engineer inspect the home and provide a course of action. We did provide the contact information for the Structural Engineer.
These comments from AFS are self-serving and omit to mention the preceding events. We had multiple contractors visit the property to offer their solutions before AFS arrived on the scene. The conditions at the house when AFS first visited were as they are today. The underside is exposed, the creek is exactly where it has been since before the house was constructed in the 1800s. The trenches had already been excavated, the damaged HVAC ductwork removed, and the under-house plumbing ripped out and replaced with new.
Their representative spent an hour and a half under the house, took many photographs, took all the measurements. In short, he did a thorough job. He then submitted all the details to his corporate office, explaining he had to get their approval for the proposed plan before we could sign an agreement to move forward. The approval to proceed was provided by his corporate office and a bid was submitted which we accepted, and both parties then signed back in mid-November. We paid our deposit, which has now been refunded but which is not the core issue.
Nothing changed at the job site between the time we entered into the agreement and when they unilaterally backed out of it. This is what upsets me the most along with the fact that we have to start again from the beginning. We have other contractors and their materials on the site that cannot be installed until the water problem is solved. AFS portrayed themselves as water experts, which they be but, what I see is they have underbid a job and got cold feet. Rather than act in a professional and responsible manner (that I would respect) they simply broke the contract, deluded themselve into believing they have taken an honorable course of action, and left our family high and dry (no pun intended).
AFS is simply awesome. They came out, pinpointed my issues, formulated a plan and completed the project on time and did exactly what they said they would do. Their plan corrected my issues and within 5-7 days a highly noticeable difference was visible. True professionals. Highly recommend this company.
