Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Regards
I have tried multiple DNA testing services. In addition, from my relatives, I already have an excellent idea of my ancestry. I know for a fact that my ancestry does not include Spain and Portugal. However, this AfricanAncestry.com, different from all other services, tells me that my ancestry is, in fact, from Spain and Portugal. The results have no explanation. It is clear to me that they simply said Spain and Portugal because of my last name Diaz. I got my last name from my stepfather, not my biological father. I can only conclude that the entire testing service from this company is a scam.
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this unwarranted complaint.1. Our scientific team does not see the last names of the people who submit samples to African Ancestry. Therefore, we reject the accusation that we assigned a result based on the last name.
2. Our Scientific Director has reviewed the result based on this complaint and he stands by the results with extreme confidence. 3. *** alleges that he knows his family's ancestry but does not reveal it in the complaint for us to refute. The test he purchased was a test of his paternal ancestry only. It was a Y chromosome test and thus says nothing about his mothers side or his fathers' mothers side of the family. In other words, the result reflects ONLY ONE BRANCH of his family tree. 4. Based on the attached form that he submitted with his swabs, he acknowledged that there was a chance that the results would not be African. Our analysis shows that his Y chromosome is European and is common among Y chromosomes found in Spain and Portugal today. That is very clear scientifically and without doubt. If he provides genetic data from a reputable lab that says his Y chromosome is not European, then we are happy to further address his complaint. 5. It is highly unlikely for any person to know everything there is to know about their family's ancestry. We recommend that he continue to try to reconcile this data with his other sources, rather than accusing our company of fraud. He says he knows what his ancestry is but does not reveal it.

I ordered my Matriclan test kit back in February and received my kit in March. I then sent my test kit out to them and they received it on the 17th of March. African Ancestry sent me an email on May 14 after a called to check on the status of my test on May 11th. The email said that my test would be shipped out next week of the 21st. Then I received an email on May 21st saying that I should wait longer for my test. I'm not satisfied with having to wait and would like my money back. I sent them an email and have not heard anything from them. I'm not really concerned about hearing from them now and would rather receive a refund.
We will be unable to offer a refund. Our terms and conditions do not guarantee a specific delivery time. Our dates are estimates. This is a customized service that has variables that are beyond our control i.e., lab issues, analysis issues, volume load. We have been in communication with the customer to let him know that there is a delay. Again, there is no guarantee of delivery timing. Terms and Conditions are attached.
This company is very sleezy. They offer you DNA analysis for your family roots and charge you $300.00. Then you take a swab of saliva and send it to them. They are suppose to get back to you in six weeks with the result. But they got back to me in eight weeks and did not have any of my family's DNA but only an indication that I was connected to an tribe in Mali. I feel this is a total waste of money.
I wrote them an email which they have did not responded to. So I called them today and had an argument with a woman who did not give me her name. When I tried to explain my concerns they were very defensive and argumentative. At minimum these peoples business practices are shady and unethical. I would like to have my money back so I can go to a real legitimate DNA company and get an analysis of my entire DNA. AfricanAncestry.com is a fake and a big ripoff.
December 4, 2017*** The Revdex.comDear ***,This letter is a response to Complaint ID # *** placed by ***.By taking a MatriClan Test, he agreed to our Terms and Conditions. Section 2 of our Terms and Conditions, included in his test kit and on Our WebSite (http://africanancestry.com/terms/) states that "Every Contractis governed by these Terms and Conditions."It is clear that *** did not understand the product that he purchased. He did not read the website, the shopping cart product description or the materials received within his test kit package. Had he read, he would have seen prior to submitting his sample that he was not getting a test that would "have any of his family's DNA". That is not what AfricanAncestry.com tests provide.I have addressed each of the reasonable complaints individually below:1. "They are suppose to get back to you in six weeks with the result. But theygot back to me in eight weeks"a. The product page for the MatriClan Test Kit that he purchased,(https://shop.africanancestry.com/Collections/ancestry-testkits/products/matriclan-test-kit?variant=***) says, "The process takes about 6-8 weeks from receipt of your swabs." b. Section 6a of our Terms and Conditions, included in his test kit andavailable at Our Website (http://africanancestry.com/terms/) States, "The Customer acknowledges that performance of the Contract requires laboratory testing and analysis of laboratory results. As such the Company's performance of such Contract may take longer than 45 days. 2. They "did not have any of my family's DNA but only an indication that I wasConnected to an tribe in Mali."a. There are several places that clearly state that what a MatriClan Test will deliver...a present-day African country and ethnic group/tribe.i. Home page of Website, http://africanancestry.com ii. FAQS page of Website, http://africanancestry.com/faq/*** Washington, DC *** P: *** F: *** WWW.African Ancestry.com f AFRICAN ANCESTRY 46TRACE YOUR DNA. FIND YOUR ROOTSiii. Product page of shopping cart,https://shop.africanancestry.com/Collections/ancestry-testkits/products/matriclan-test-kit?variant=*** iv. Test Kit insert (see attachment, MatriClan Test Explanation) b. We do not advertise that we will give you any genealogyinformation or "family DNA". 3. "I called them today and had an argument with a Woman who did not give meher name."a. Clearly from the tone of this complaint, *** is angry andcombative. It is the same tone that he took with everyone in our office that he has spoken to. b. Our representatives do not argue with customers and are regularlypraised for their high level of service. 4. We provided the service that he paid for. It seems that *** did not understand the product that he purchased. Apparently, he wanted a DNA test to give him genealogy. Again, that is not what AfricanAncestry.com does nor do we market anywhere that we do that type of analysis.a. He Ordered the Matri Clan Test online. b. On attached file, African Ancestry Agreement.png, you will see that hehad to select the "Agreement: I have read and I understand the product description below." in order to complete his purchase. We do not give refunds to customers because they are unhappy with our results. That is clearly stated throughout Section 6 of the Terms and Conditions. Please let me know if I should provide any additional information.Sincerely
