The facility is called "Affordacare Urgent Care" in person and online. They say that they provide urgent care services on their website, however, they are not actually a credentialed, urgent care facility. This is false advertising. When I visited, there was no one else in the waiting room. The receptionist never questioned my insurance coverage and never mentioned that they are not an accredited, urgent care facility. She did not run my insurance before I was seen. She did not run it before I even left the facility. I visited on December 27, 2019 and my insurance was not run until January 8, 2020. My insurance has refused to cover it, since it's not an accredited urgent care facility. AffordaCare has lowered the cost of my visit from 250 dollars to the self-pay 130. However, urgent care visits under my insurance are 20 dollars. I would not have gone if it wasn't advertised as an urgent care facility. It's predatory. When asked, they said that calling themselves an urgent care facility is no different than if their name said "Bob" on it. When asked why I wasn't informed beforehand, they said that they are retraining staff.
Modification/discontinuance of Since I will likely have paid this before it is resolved, I want any overcharges back. I also want the false advertising fixed. It's predatory. When asked, they said that calling themselves an urgent care facility is no different than if their name said "Bob" on it.
Per phone conversation.
Carlie called and said "different types of insurance cover different things." She will review the case and get back with us.
"I have reached out to the complainants insurance company, this particular company is an out of state plan whom we do not have a "contract" with that specifies urgent care or primary care. After speaking with them and understanding the issue, we are resubmitting the claim under a different place of service that her insurance should recognize.
I have spoken with the patient this morning informing her of this information and the plan for our billing office to resubmit the claim in hope that her out of state insurance will pick up the charges.
The patient seemed pleased with this and I will continue to follow up on this.
Thank you for you time and reaching out to me yesterday
Director of Clinic Operations"
Called Customer 2/25/20 and she confirmed that the Clinic is resubmitting her insurance claim differently and she should be covered. She said this solves her issue to her satisfaction; but, she did still question why the Clinic told her mother that they aren't officially classified as an Urgent Care facility. She agreed to the claim being closed as answered.
