This is [redacted] I filled a complaint against affordable transmission the case # [redacted] He has agreed to fix the transmission
As Mr*** stated in his complaint his vehicle was towed to Certified Transmission to repair a broken motor mountMr*** neglected to mention that he had his vehicle towed due to running over a object in the road and thought he had damaged his linkageOn March 6, Mr*** spoke with
*** *** on the phone and discussed the fact that his vehicle had ran over something in the road and now his vehicle would only move in reverse and had no forward gearsMr*** stated that he thought he had damaged his linkage*** offered to have the vehicle towed in for $75.00, we would perform a visual inspection at no costUpon visually looking at Mr***’s vehicle it was found that his linkage was fine but the road hazard smashed in his transmission pan and the fluid had leaked out, and that he had also damaged the motor mount*** *** advised Mr*** of this condition and explained to him that the extent of the damage could not be ascertained without removing the smashed pan, filter (inspection) and the cost would be$to determine if the transmission could be savedWhich Mr*** states in his complaint that he agreed to this*** *** the head rebuilder performed the inspection, and concluded that the transmission could be saved by replacing the necessary componentSee customers estimateAfter *** ***’s inspection and component damage was identified, he was instructed by the owner *** *** to place an un damage used transmission pan back on the transmission to prevent it from further leaking and place vehicle back on lot until approval was given by the customer to perform the needed repairsOur repair shop has only seven bays, therefore we have to keep rotating vehicles in and out, and go on to the next repair until customers approval is given so that our work flow can meet demand*** *** explained to Mr*** what *** ***’s inspection revealed and what the cost would be to fix the vehicleIt was asked of Mr*** to come by the shop so that we could show him first hand the damage that occurred to his vehicleMr*** and his wife came in and the damage was shown to them*** *** made many attempts to articulate to both Mrand Mrs*** the damaged that was done, but the both were unable to grasp that running over something could cause that much damageMr*** was he most un-happy with the fact that his vehicle was outside and his damaged components were inside the building for his inspection*** *** explained to him our process and how it is necessary for us to move vehicles in and out of the building to keep the work flow goingAny vehicle that is left inside the building is occupying a bay and preventing other vehicle from being work onprocedure is to put vehicle outside until customer’s approval for repairsThis is necessary because it may be days before a customer will give an approval to have repair’s doneUltimately Mr*** could not be satisfied and he removed his vehicle from our shopIt should be noted that situations like this are extremely rare for our companyWe have been serving our community since We have a spotless reputation with the Revdex.com and our online reviews are the best in our areaWe always work hard to avoid these situations but when they do arise we are happy to continue to work with that customer until a resolution can be reached, but in Mr*** case what he is demanding is not reasonableMr***’s charges of $were approved by Mr*** and services were renderedHe himself in his complaint has made mention of thisHe is also asking for an additional $for a tow and replacement cost for parts removed from his vehicleWe are sorry that Mr*** is not happy with the damage and the cost to repair his vehicle but we as a company have done no wrong and would request that this complaint not reflect negatively on our Revdex.com reputationThank for your time in this matter*** ***
This is [redacted] I filled a complaint against affordable transmission the case #[redacted]. He has agreed to fix the transmission.
Affordable Transmission[redacted]St. Louis, MO 63136May 24, 2016REF#[redacted]Dear Dispute Resolution Department:I am responding to the following alleged complaint that was made by Mr.
[redacted].Mr. [redacted]'s father had called me several weeks before actually bringing his
son's vehicle...
to my shop. When a customer call to inquire about an
estimate they are always advised to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic to
get a recommendation and a written estimate on repairs. When speaking to
Mr. [redacted], Sr, he insisted on getting an estimate without a diagnostic being
done first. He explained to me that this vehicle was very old, had
321,162 miles and was nearing the end stages of its life and his son did not
want to put very much money in the vehicle. I explained to him the
benefits of the getting a diagnostic done first, for two reasons, one being the
accuracy of an estimate, two to determine actual cause of complaint. So
after talking to Mr. [redacted] Sr. for several minutes on the phone, he was giving
two estimates, one being for a used transmission average cost is around
$1400.00 with a 6month warranty and the other being a rebuilt transmission,
estimate would be around $2000.00 with 2 year 24 thousand mile warranty.
I explained to Mr. [redacted] thoroughly that this of course is an estimate that a
diagnostic would still need to be done to be given a more accurate cost.I believe it was about two or three weeks later that Mr. [redacted] Sr. came
into the shop and we again discussed the issues with his son's
vehicle. I again gave him the exact same two estimates as stated on
the phone. He then agreed to have his son's car brought to our shop for a
diagnostic and an estimate. After doing the diagnostic I called Mr.
[redacted] and told him that we have confirmed that his transmission had internal
failure and the transmission would either need to be replaced or rebuilt.
I went over the estimates again with Mr. [redacted] Sr. I told him that an internal
transmission inspection would be needed to determine the actual cost, because a
rebuild is based on worn and damaged parts. He had told me that that I
would need to talk to his son. Mr. [redacted] Jr. called shortly after
I talked to his father. At this point he proceeded to tell me that when
his father talked to me on the phone I gave him a price of a rebuild for
$1400.00 that would come with the 2 year warranty. I explained to him
that is not what was discussed but for his satisfaction I would do my best to
rebuild it and stay as close to the used cost as possible, but he was getting a
rebuild transmission at the used transmission cost, and since a rebuild
typically cost around $2200.00 and we are not going to charge him the full
price on a rebuild that we could not give him a two year warranty. Mr.
[redacted] Jr. agreed and gave us permission to proceed with the repair. At
this point I told Mr. [redacted] Jr. that a $500.00 DEPOSIT would be required
to start the repairs and that DEPOSIT would go toward his balance due (this is
not a fee.) This is a normal procedure for our company. Mr. [redacted]
agreed to make to the deposit. Once we did the internal inspection and
had the list of worn and damaged parts I called Mr. [redacted] and gave him the
total cost of the transmission rebuild. Total cost with parts, tax, and
labor came to $1547.37 at this point he was happy with the price.Mr. [redacted] stated we has his vehicle for 15 day. Mr. [redacted] dropped
his vehicle off of April 20 and picked it up on 5/03 total of 13 days, but only
9 working days, we are not open for repairs on Saturday and Sunday. This
is not an uncommon length of time for this type of repair.Mr. [redacted] came in to pick his vehicle up with his father, I gave him
the paperwork to sign and went over the invoice with him. Stated that the
invoice is itemized out with all worn and damaged parts that was replaced and
warranty with a 12 month 12 thousand mile warranty. Mr. [redacted] Sr. then
stated that he and I discussed a 2 year 24 thousand mile warranty.
I then explained to him that Mr. [redacted] Jr. agreed to have transmission rebuilt
at a lower cost that in turn would have a lesser warranty. That is when
Mr. [redacted] Jr. said he did not know that he was only getting a 12 month
warranty. I explained to him once again that he and I discussed this
already and agreed upon it. The transmission was already rebuilt at a
lower cost therefore I had no way of changing the warranty. He and I went
back and forth for a few minutes so I told him I would talk to [redacted] who is
another owner to see if he would be willing to increase the warranty, and I
would call him as soon as I had a chance to discuss this with [redacted]. [redacted]
said that he could not do so and it would not even be fair to the company since
we already have given him such a huge discounted rate. Mr. [redacted] called
me before I had a chance to call him. I explained to him once again that
here would be no changes in his warranty.Mr. [redacted] also says in his letter did he say that here are some body
damages done to his vehicle (1999 Ford Ranger with 321,162). Not once has
Mr. [redacted] mention this to [redacted] or myself in any of our conversation over
dispute of warranty. His vehicle is very old and has an extreme amount of
miles on it. He has also accused my company of using his vehicle for hauling
vehicle. That is total out right false accusation, and in our opinion a
tactic. I find Mr. [redacted]'s accusation offensive and absurd. Not to
mention my company owns a flat bed tow truck, several trailers, along with
several pick-up trucks that are capable of hauling anything you could
imagine. Had Mr. [redacted] had made this accusation prior to driving his
vehicle away I would have been able to prove to him that the only a few miles
were put on his vehicle from time he dropped it off and when he picked it up,
therefore it is necessary for technicians to drive vehicles to do
repairs. All mileage is recorded as vehicles are checked in at time of
diagnostic, but to my regret in this situation they are not recorded after
repair and the customer picks up the vehicle, once again had Mr. [redacted] said
this upon picking his vehicle up proof could have been given. I assure
you that Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle was in the exact same condition when he picked up
as when he dropped it off. He has also stated that our shop had emptied
out his coolant. This is another absurd and offensive accusation, nor is
it necessary to service/drain/or tamper with the coolant to rebuild the
transmission. It is my regret that Mr. [redacted] is not satisfied but I do not see any
resolution or merit to his complaint. I full heartedly believe my company
has done nothing wrong and has done all that it has agreed upon. I feel
that this is not a legitimate complaint, but more of a loss of translation
between Mr. [redacted] Jr and Mr. [redacted] Sr. I feel that my conversation with
Mr. [redacted] Jr and Sr. was very direct and clear, and in no way bee
misunderstood. There is no truth or malice to his complaints therefore it should not
reflect on my companies reputation or reflect as a complaint to damage my companies
