In December 2017 I visited Great Window Shades which is now located at ***. On 12/11/17, the Sales Representative came to my home and gave me a quote to replace all of the vertical blinds in my home. I pointed out I wanted the same vertical blinds, just replaced with new ones due to their age. All of my vertical blinds were "outside" mounts. The next day, I visited GW Shades and saw vertical blinds with "rounded" edges, which I informed the Customer Service rep. I subsequently had conversations with the Sales Representative to change to the rounded edges. When I reviewed the paperwork sent via email to me, I had another conversation with the Sales Representative concerning why the sliding glass door had mounts different from the other windows. The Sales Rep stated the sliding glass door is considered "outside" mount. All other windows would be inside mount (not what I currently had for my windows) because they would look more "custom" as inside mounts. She had done this many times. I advised I would have to trust her since she has been involved in many installations and would know what they looked like. At no time did she say "with inside mount you will have gaps on the sides, which will allow someone see into your home". On 1/08/18 the installation was done, which I was not happy with due to all of the windows with "gaps" on the sides and verticals of varying lengths, which I called and informed the Customer Service rep and sent an email. On 01/22/18, I had a repair appointment with the original installers. While they resolved the various lengths of the verticals on the windows, and attempted to adjust the windows with "inside mounts" to remove the "gaps", the gaps were not resolved, due to "inside mount". I am currently using the spare "just in case" verticals for the windows as a preventative measure on the window gaps to prevent someone from looking into my windows. I sent emails to GW Shades on 1/23/18 and 1/26/18 advising the issue with the gaps was not resolved and requesting next steps to get this resolved due to safety and security concerns. On 01/30/18 I called and spoke with Customer Service and forwarded copies of the emails I sent on 01/23 and 01/26. This morning I noticed a response from the President & CEO stating "After, meeting with the installers that performed your installation, we have unanimously decided that the "gaps" you are concerned about are required and completely within product specifications when installing inside window opening. I state required because, when a vertical blind is installed inside of the window opening, like you requested us to do, the product requires space to rotate slats open and closed" and no further accommodations will be made. However, offering "great financial consideration" if I wish to replace my selection.

It is very clear that the customer was offered a resolution as stated by the customer herself within the detailed complaint filled here (please see customer statement). We have returned to customer's home and addressed most customer's requests per our warranty policy. We also offered great financial consideration, if the customer would like to replace the product with something different. However, the fact of the matter is that the customer selected the custom made window treatments the way she desired to have them installed, even going against some of our designer's professional recommendations. GWS made all products to customer's specifications, it is clearly stated in our terms and conditions of sale that the vertical blinds were made as requested by the customer and cannot be returned, reused nor refunded. The customer was made aware of all that prior to the purchase.

GWS will be happy to provide, as stated, great financial consideration for any replacement window treatment of the customer's choosing and will work with the customer to provide a resolution that is of mutual agreement, to include trimming/framing the window to cover this 1/4'' gap that is such a huge issue to her. Unfortunately, refunds are not an option, especially when the "gap" issue is of complete and tolerable product specifications and acceptance.

I ordered Blinds for all window and door coverings in our new home. Blinds were ordered and after a couple weeks of not hearing from the company I called to check on my order. I was told the blinds were in and we needed to set up an time to have the blinds installed. We took time off work as we work Monday - Friday 8-5 jobs which is also the hours of operation of the installers. The installed showed up with the blinds and installed 2 broken blinds and made attempts to hide the blinds defectiveness. One blinds the string was broken and the installed simply retied causing the blinds to be completed uneven and the other blind will not adjust open and close. I called the company and despite the blinds having a life time warranty and being brand new less than a couple hours old I was told they would have to get with the *** to see what to do. I was called back the same day and told I needed to set up a new apt more time off work for someone to come out and look at the blinds to decide what to do. Noone ever showed up or called to cancel the apt. I called the company back and was told it was an oversite. I asked for the *** again to resolve out issues and was told they would call me back. 3 days later I received a call not from the *** but again *** a rep who told me I would have to set up another apt take time off work because they refused to come out after 5pm and they would take down the blinds and send them off for repair and would not replace them. In addition the blinds were suppose to be on a track on our French Doors and instead Velcro was installed at the bottom to hold them in place. I paid for brand new products that work and that's what I want.

Great Window Shades, is making every attempt to resolve all customer issues within reasonable demands. We have already scheduled an appointment with the customer to come and inspect all blinds and address all the issues and concerns.

I am rejecting this response because: The apt was made prior to my complaint to come out get blinds to have them repaired. I don’t want them repaired I want them replaced with new blinds. In addition the *** called yesterday and left a voice mail for me. I called him back and he has not responded. We have not taken any steps to resolve my complaint all actions currently under way were made beige this complaint and my request to the business to resolve moving forward with the appointment was the only option the business gave me.
