As stated in the previous responses you received from our Quality Assurance Department after you filed a formal grievance, your account has been reviewed. You were referred by your general dentist to our oral surgeon for removal of your tooth. Charges were appropriate, reasonable, and customary for the necessary procedures completed. Your insurance company was billed accordingly. A treatment plan, consent, and financial agreement was signed by you prior to the appointment. Although we acknowledge your frustration regarding your dental benefits, your request for the charges to be removed from your account will not be honored. Per our financial agreement, you agreed to being responsible for any charges not covered by your insurance. The services were provided in good faith. The code used for a surgical extraction is not relative to sedation being received or not, the time that it takes for the procedure to be completed, or pain level experienced after the procedure. The code for surgical extraction is used when the removal of the tooth requires specific procedures to be done, which our review shows were completed and necessary. We are pleased to hear that the procedure went quickly, and was painless for you.
We again thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Please know that we take your feedback very seriously and will use this to better focus our efforts to meet the needs of our patients.
