In March 2019 we initiated having our 10x12 patio slab transformed into a retreat that would allow us both great entertainment space along with a place for quite time. After researching different companies we decided to go with Adirondack Outdoor Design LLC . They had done several projects in the neighborhood and the work was impressive enough for us to trust that our $30,000 plus would be well spent. The project was done as timely as the weather would permit. The screened in part of the patio was subcontracted out to *** and ***. No big deal, that's how the process of such things work.
In May 2019, a couple of the plastic hinges one of the two screen doors broke. Then shortly afterwards a hinge broke on the opposite side door. After repeated request to get *** of *** and *** to repair the hinges and the dragging doors, I reached out to Jamie of Adirondack Outdoor Design LLC for help. In his reassuring way, I was told the problem would be taken care of. *** from *** and *** refused to return to make the needed repairs. I then posted a review on Google to share my experience with *** and ***. A week later I was contacted by Jamie of Adirondack Outdoor Design LLC on behalf of* and asked to remove my review since the work was subbed through him. Assuming I would get the problem resolved by taking the review down, I removed it. Jamie of Adirondack Outdoor Design LLC was right, I should not put the entire blame on *** and ***, so I'm telling the whole story.
I reached out to Jamie several additional times and he finally came and did what the pictures shows. ( Unsightly appearance of the door hinges, both doors dragging, unpainted board at base of screen) In other words, I had my doors worked on by a non-carpenter. The work does not look like we paid over $30,000 for what we now have. So now I must pay someone to come and repair an issue that was only correct for a month or so after the job was completed.
So here we are in February 2020. I had to make a decision of being SILENT or looked upon as the VERY UNSATISFIED BLACK GUY. I decided on the latter. So, at this point I have to wonder if I was expected to take what I was given and go on about my business and stay in my place.
Product_Or_Service: Screened in patio and stone patio with accessories
Refund My desire is for *** of Adirondack Outdoor Design LLC to pay for the screen doors and hinges to be replaced and repaired correctly so that they are no long dragging, and for the unpainted boards to be painted by a vendor that I select. I will get estimates for the work I originally agreed upon.
Hello Mr ***
Thank you for your post . No matter positive or negative we appreciate all feedback from our past and future clients.
I am responding to this post in an effort to come up with a solution to the current status of your warranty repair.
We were hired to design and construct an outdoor living space for Mr ***
Covered porch
Pavers
Grill island
Gas fire pit
We agreed on all materials associated with this project with Mr. & Mrs.
We installed this project in a specific timeline with minimal issues, except for installing incorrect color shingles, which were immediately removed and corrected at no cost to Mr and Mrs ***
The home owner had made a color selection for the tongue and groove natural wood ceiling that was not to their liking upon completion. Per the agreed upon contract, this would result in a "change order fee " which was waived. To make the adjustments to color, we agreed to a "time and materials charge" and this new change added to the initial completion time. No problem at all, happy to make the client satisfied with the final product.
Project was complete.
Mr ***reached out to me regarding the vinyl screen doors (he had personally selected) with some sagging issues. I went over with my sub contractor to make adjustments to the "sweeps" at the bottom of the door as they were to tight to the pavers, causing the door to not swing as they should. We made the corrections with Mr.on-site.
After that, I did not hear anything regarding the door. I was , however, contacted by Mr ***regarding an electrical issue in an outlet in the grill island. I personally went to look at it and came to the conclusion that the "gfi outlet" was bad. I contacted my electrician and replaced the outlet almost immediately.
Mr ***also contacted me regarding a couple spots (minimal) in the paver patio where the polymeric sand had settled (it happens). I personally came out to remediate and again Mr ***was on site during this repair.
Mr ***called me about grout on his Travertine counter top that had some hair line cracks. Which I sent my crew out within days to correct.
Regarding the doors...This is a hinge issue not a construction issue or shoddy craftsmanship. I had recommended to send my team out to adjust it and it was not acceptable. At that time Mr.informed me that he did not want my team back on his property.
I let the homeowner know that moving forward I would personally be remediating the scope of work needed to repair the warranty issues. I scheduled time and Mr.was on site while I replaced existing hinges with new hinges and left the site
At that time I informed Mr.
that due to the fact this is a vinyl door it will expand and contract with the weather and that I would come back and lower the pavers 1/8 of an inch to alleviate the problem, He replied "I will take care of shaving the door, I don't want to sacrifice the integrity of the pavers "
That was the last communication with Mr ***until today via this inaccurate review.
I proud of the professionalism and stand behind my commitment to warranty issues. I try to go above and beyond our scope, and did so in this case, to ensure the customer satisfaction. Because we do what is right ..All the time.
My last communication was positive and if I had I known there was still an issue I would have resolved it as I did every other time.
I have a proven track record with my customers and Mr ***personally. It is unfortunate he felt the need to bring personal accusations without all the facts.
As stated before, I will continue to stand by my work and happy to have my team rectify any warranty issues at hand. If Mr ***chooses not to allow us to do so, that does not constitute my inability to deliver quality work.
As you stated "*** is not acceptance". How do you expect resolution without communication? Especially when I have delivered every *** of the way when open communication occurred.
