Action Window and Door

- STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. This company does not stand behind its estimates/quotes. I contracted for two windows to be replaced and my HOA said I needed permits. The sales guy told me they could pull the permits but I would have to pay the fee. I asked him how much and he told me it would be about $250. So I signed the contract and put down 50% on 2/15. On 3/21, I emailed the sales guy for an update and he replied he would have *** who is in charge of scheduling, give me a call. On 3/28 I got a voicemail from *** saying the "windows were on order and working on permit". The same day, I got an email from sales guy saying the permit fees were going to be $771, over $500 more than he told me originally. I replied this was a "deal killer" and made the project over budget, and that I wanted to cancel the order. On 5/1, the sales guy replied the windows were in and I was on the hook for the $500 cost of the windows, which they would give me. By then, upon my own investigation with the city, I had found out the cost of the permits would actually be more like $1200. - So, bottom line, the sales guy, incorrectly advised me of the actual cost of the permits by about $1000 too low, whether by omission or commission. Because of this, I was induced to sign a window contract, I would not have otherwise signed. The company now claims they received the windows on 3/12 which I seriously doubt since on 3/28 Melisa's voicemail said they were on order. The company ***, has refunded my deposit withholding $500 for the windows. I think this is grossly unfair under the circumstances and shows what a disreputable, unscrupulous company Action Window is.
