I hired Joe P from Ace Painting in Nyack to paint the inside of the entire house. After two weeks of him working, there were too many extra charges added by Joe for the things that were supposed to be included in the original quote. Practically everything that was done needs to be redone: all nine windows that were painted were painted shot. As to the walls, ceilings and windows, all these areas will have to be repainted since there're a lot of spots where the coverage is uneven, in quite a few places there's only one coat of paint instead of two. Joe's patching of the nail holes on the trims needs corrections, all the holes are visible, the calking on the trims is already cracking, a lot of drips everywhere. The list is long. In addition to the poor quality of work, I had to deal with Joe's moody personality. And to add to that, since I paid him in advance, I haven't received a refund when he walked away from the job.
This matter is settled. Here's how.
(Ordinarily I would not dignify these absurd accusations with a response, but my livelihood is at stake so I'm compelled to refute the charge.
As an aside: *** and I were on a first name basis but since I'm referring this to a third party and were no longer on speaking terms, I'll address her formally.)
To broadly answer ***'s unfounded complains: In the 10 days that I worked at her house, there were no less than 7 rooms in progress without one completed because she
constantly pulled me out of one room to start another. I told her early on, for equilibrium and continuity, I needed to finish one room before I started the next. I was ignored.
At the outset we agreed there would be "adjustments" (extra costs) primarily because things to be painted were not yet installed (Cabinets. Doors. Molding.) But when the time came
to honor our agreement, she reneged, which lead to my departure.
Contrary to her claim, she was refunded the full amount of our settlement agreement. *** lists her outlay as $7500. It was $4500. The refunded settlement was for $2,000.
I paid her $1,210 cash and deducted $790, 25% of total materials cost which is the industry standard mark-up for a painting contractor. At first this was waived as a gesture of
appreciation for winning the job but later reinstated for losing it. Also, this is a woman who lives on the premises and personally checks the work performed daily. Why did she wait 19
days to complain?
40 years in the painting business I have never encountered such a one sided, selfish misrepresentation of the truth, and not once in that many years has a customer complained about
the performance of my work.
Therefore, the aforementioned begs the question: why is *** so determined to tarnish what is otherwise a sterling reputation?
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I have pictures to prove my claim that Joe P from Ace Painting of Nyack did less than satisfactory job, a few of them are attached. Opposite to Joe's claim, this matter is far from being settled. We have never agreed upon the amount of settlement, he forced his opinion on me and rejected my requests. I want a full refund since all the areas that were painted by Joe would have to be redone. And now every painter I'm bringing in to do the job quotes me an extra $1,000 and over to remove the layers of uneven paint that are the result Joe Ps handywork, especially on the trims and windows. Hopefully, the painted-shut windows could be opened without damaging them. A few of the weather strips on the windows could be cleaned, the rest would have to be replaced. A lot of the very expensive paint was waisted, I want a refund for that too. As far as the billing for the paint goes, I never received an actual invoice detailing what exactly Joe ordered, just a total bill. As far as Joe's "sterling reputation" goes, I know of a least one person who took him to a small claims court for a similar behavior and won the case, he had to pay her back. Unfortunately, I learnt that after I hired Joe.
In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely
I stated previously that I didn't complete a single room because she constantly pulled me out of one room to start another. In 10 days I was in no less than 7 rooms. I was never taken to court by any customer, ever. On my departure from the job I said I'd refund her 2k. She said o.k. Case closed. My current bank statement in hand reads: $10.38 February makes 3 months behind on my rent. I wish her good luck.Tell us why here...
