On July 4th, 2018, my 2005 Cadillac Deville would not start. I took the battery to O'Reilly's to have checked; thinking I may have a bad battery. Associates at the location stated, "there is nothing wrong with the battery". From here, I contacted AC Auto Body & Repair Racine because the car would not turn over with a jump. I was instructed to have my car towed to their lot for a diagnostic. I received a call from ***(owner) giving me information regarding what maybe the issue. He stated I had a bad battery and a major electrical wire had been burned to the engine. On Weds, 7/11/18, they replaced the battery and the wire on Thurs 7/12/18, I picked up my car; drove it to work on Friday, 7/13/18 and than I left for out of town Friday evening. The car was parked in my garage for the entire weekend. Returning on Sunday,7/15/18, I went to start my car and the same thing happened; it would not start. I contacted AC Auto on 7/16/18, spoke with Tony and he told me to bring my car back in to have it checked out. I had the car again towed because if they would have towed it I would be responsible for the tow (I would have had to pay them for towing). Kale (a service technician) contacted myself and my wife regarding the car and stated if we would like to have a diagnostic done on the car it would cost $75 just for the diagnostic although we had just paid $289 for a new battery and the major wire that was burned to the engine. Customer service was horrible and they thought we were trying to get over on them; when we just wanted to know the main cause and effect of the car not starting the original reason for us taking the car into them.
The vehicle was originally towed into our location for complaint of a no start. Upon initial diagnosis there was no power to the vehicle. We found that the main power cable was burnt. This allowed exposure of the ground cable, which was burnt from contact with the torque of the motor. The wiring had been damaged because when we received the vehicle the wiring was not in the wiring loom and was improperly routed, with no hold-downs on the power cable. Once the wiring was repaired the charging system was tested and it was determined the battery was also bad. We then replaced the battery. All power was restored to the vehicle and the vehicle was starting. The original bill that was paid by the customer was discounted by the owner *** in an attempt to maintain customer satisfaction following complaint of the price of repairs made by the customer. The vehicle was brought back in days later following customer pick up for complaint of the vehicle not starting again. We inspected the vehicle and determined there was a small draw on the battery, after the vehicle sits for an extended length of time. We charged the battery, and at that time the customer declined to pay for any further testing or services to be performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was starting after we charged the battery and the customer drove the vehicle from our property. We would be willing to reinspect and diagnose the battery draw issue with appropriate payment for the time and services of our technicians.
