We paid Above and Beyond in full over $*** to do a backyard remodel job. They have failed to complete the sprinkler system repair.
In *** we contracted Above and Beyond Complete Grounds Maintenance to do a concrete/landscaping and sprinkler repair job. The job included installing concrete around our newly installed pool, landscaping around the pool and other parts of the backyard and revamping our sprinkler system as old system was destroyed after pool installation. Upon completion we paid in total $***. This included 3 payments (by check) of around $*** each for beginning draw, middle draw and completion draw. The concrete and landscaping jobs were done successfully, however we had an issue with the sprinkler system repair. We paid our last completion draw on *** after we thought everything was completed. That night we came home and found a newly installed sprinkler system pipe had burst and water gushing down our backyard dirt as sod had not been installed yet. We turned off water to sprinkler system notified the owner of Above and Beyond (***). He stated he would have his sprnkler guy (***) come out to address issue in the morning. *** did come out the next morning (***) to start working the issue, however we were leaving for vacation so we left him there to repair the issue. We had sod installed by a different company on Friday ***. We came back from vacation on Saturday ***, and noticed that only one zone of sprinkler system was working so most of the sod installed had not been getting watered and was dying. I text *** and let him know and he told me he wouldn't be out to address the issue until Monday. After I told him that was unacceptable as sod was dying he told me that I would have to hand water it until Monday. I told him that I would not be able to do that as I was not planning on being there the next day and I shouldn't have to do that as I paid them to fix this issue. His sprinkler guy chimed in the text messaged and stated that he could come out to look at it on Sunday ***. He came out and found that wiring had become loose in the sprinkler control box and that was why all the zones were not working, but he fixed it and left. The next day (Monday ***) as I was watching the sprinkler work, I noticed that there were areas of sod not being hit by the sprinkler system so this time I reached out to *** directly and he stated he would come over to look at it. He came later that day and did some adjustments, but they still weren't working and we both decided that more sprinkler heads were going to need to be added to cover the areas not being covered with water. He came the next day to install a couple of new sprinkler heads, but he did not install one by our south gate as we had not got sod there yet. He told me to call him when we got sod and he would come out to put one there. Once we got sod in that area I reached out to him ***. He stated he would come by when he had some extra time to install head. Luckily we were getting rain, so that sod was not in desperate need of the sprinkler head there, but *** finally came out (after multiple failed attempts of him not coming when he stated he would) on Sunday *** to install the new sprinkler head. He came and left without letting me know, but I tested the sprinkler zone that the new sprinkler head was just installed and saw that it was not working. I texted *** to let him know and he told me that he was booked for next 3 weeks, but would try to come over when he had extra time to repair it. After a couple of days of not hearing from him, I reached out to *** and let him know what was going on. He told me he would have to charge me for a service repair to fix this issue. I let him know that this was their problem that they were already paid to fix back in *** and after a little back and forth between us he ended up hanging up on me.
The resolution I'm seeking is for the sprinkler repair job to be completed and last sprinkler head that was installed to actually work with the sprinkler system. I am also requesting that colored concrete that was splattered over my pool steps to be cleaned/removed as *** stated they would do. And last but not least, I would expect that better customer service would be applied by the owner himself as hanging up on a customer after they have paid you over $*** is not acceptable customer service. This should not garner their business an A+ rating with Revdex.com.
I apologize if you feel the customer service was not acceptable, but you did text us at 8:00 PM on a Saturday night and expected us to be there right away. We have families and obligations also and with it being very hard to find good help we like them to have there time off also. Even though it was not caused by our company we still came out on a Sunday and did not bill for that. As for the extra sprinkler heads, I had no idea about the heads as you were contacting my employee and not me. We will come out and fix the concrete on the pool and fix the head next week. I will be in touch to let you know we can be there by Monday next week.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
In response to the first point about 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night, I expected you to come the next day not right away. I understand that people have obligations, however I also understand that we had paid a lot of money to have a sprinkler system that worked. The expedited nature needed was due to the fact that our new sod had not been getting watered since it was layed the day prior. Also, I'm not sure how you concluded this was not caused by your company as I talked with the sod company and they stated all they did was lay the sod and turn the water on at backflow device as we were instructed to do by your sprinkler employee. The sprinkler system was supposed to run on the schedule that was set by your sprinkler employee; so I'm not sure how laying the sod could cause 5 out of the 6 sprinkler zones not to work. It does not seem plausible. That being said; I'm not sure why we would have been billed for something that was not working that we had already paid for it to work. As far as the sprinkler heads were concerned we were dealing with the sprinkler employee as he wanted us to work through him since he was doing the work. We only notified you once we were told by the sprinkler employee that he would not be able to address our issue until at least 3 weeks later due to him being booked up on schedule. We reached out to you to see if you could free him up to fix our issue since we had already paid in full for the work. The answer we got from you first was you would address the issue next year. And then you stated you would have to charge us to fix the issue that we had already paid for you guys to fix. When I didn't agree with you on how this was being handled you hung up on me. I hope that this will not be how your compnay handles issues in the future. I'm glad to hear now that you will address both issues with the concrete and sprinkler head. We were scheduled to have our sprinkler system winterized on Friday (***), however we will call the company to see if we can have this winterization rescheduled to allow for you guys to fix our issue first. I look forward to hearing from you to get our issues fixed.
