Improper billing to insurance.
Came in for routine eye exam and was told to occasionally use eye drops. Billing department billed my insurance for diagnosis of dry eye syndrome but did not bill for eye exam. If my insurance were billed for exam and subsequent diagnosis, insurance would pay for entire visit. Billing department refuses to bill my insurance for the purpose of my visit so I must pay entire amount. I have no problem with the Doctor but I will go elsewhere in the future. I pay insurance premiums for a purpose and they are unable to properly bill my insurance for the purpose of my visit.
I have already paid bill in full. Primarily want to make sure others don't get taken advantage of by improper billing procedures.

The patient had come in for his appointment and saw the Doctor. The patient had a medical dx that was given which we billed properly to the insurance company. We see patients regularly for medical issues and not for routine eye exams for glasses. If a patient requires a refractive diagnosis the patient signs a waiver letting them know if the insurance company does not pay for a refractive exam the patient will be responsible for the charges. We heard back from the insurance company and took their contractual write off and the insurance company deemed the remaining amount patients deductible amount. The patient did call and talked to the billing department and they explained what the insurance had instructed to bill the patient.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I made an appointment for and went in for a routine eye exam. I was given a new eye glass prescription as a result of the eye exam. If the doctor diagnosed an issue (dry eyes) during the routine exam, I'm glad it was addressed. I have called my insurance company and they assure me that if they had been billed for the routine exam, the exam and the diagnosis would be covered. My primary concern that I went in for was a routine eye exam. If that was not performed, why not.
As stated previously, The patient had a medical dx that was given which we billed properly to the insurance company. It has already been explained to *** that our facility sees patients regularly for medical issues and not for routine eye exams for glasses. We have a contract with his insurance to bill for medical diagnosis and not for routine exams.
