I am saddened to have to file this report but find it to be necessary for future consumers to hear about my experience with AAMCO, ***. in the Spokane Valley.
Friday, July 13, I dropped my truck at their location. I was overheating and their shop was referred to me by a local ***. I was told I’d need to leave it so it could be diagnosed and repaired. Ryan and Bruce were both polite and professional, even going so far as to offering me a ride to and from my house while my transportation was in their possession.
I received a call that afternoon that the problem was that my thermostat housing unit was cracked. The total repair cost would be $998 plus tax, $135 of which would be labor. He (Bruce) apologized for the part costing nearly $800 but that it was something that no one carried in stock and had to be special ordered from a Ford dealership. My truck would not be available until the following Monday. I told them I would call with an answer in a few minutes.
I called my son, asking him to check on the part cost of the housing unit. He spoke with a friend who is a technician and they did a *** research. They called and said the part I needed would cost $53 plus antifreeze, etc.
I called AAMCO back and spoke with Ryan. I tried to make sure there wasn’t something I was missing or not understanding. He assured me the part and the price he quoted was correct and that my son must be mistaking it for something else.
Long story short, I went in, picked up my truck and paid their $88 diagnostic fee. My son took the truck to his friend’s house and they made the necessary repairs in a couple hours. The total cost for all parts involved was less than $90. They were purchased at an *** Auto Parts (which just so happens to share a parking lot with AAMCO).
It’s now the following Monday. The truck is still running perfectly. Before I sat down to write this, I searched the web for any thermostat housing unit I could find and could not find anything being offered for any more than $60. I had truly hoped they were making a simple mistake, but I just can’t imagine that being the case. I guess I must’ve looked like an easy mark. I’m very disappointed.
In response to Mr. concern. We inspected Mr. vehicle and quoted him on a price based off our suppliers parts cost and the availability of the part. We get the part number needed for the customer vehicle based off the Vin# of the vehicle, this is populated into our system based off the customers License Plate. I personally reverifed with both our aftermarket and dealers parts supplier and arrived at the same parts cost and availability based off the Vin# we have on file. We were in agreement on the Labor, the main difference was on the part. With the difference Mr. is talking about we can not be talking about the same part #. I would love to speak to Mr. and get this cleared up.

I received a call today from the the owner, Kathy, and am happy to say that our matter has been resolved. As it turns out, as I was hoping, it was simply a matter of a mistake in the data entry. They were one digit off on the license number which gave them an entirely different VIN number.
I appreciated the call and am happy with the outcome.
Sincerely
