Review: It was agreed with [redacted] to pay $2,500 a month for 2-3 months for the home care of my 94 year old mother (coming from a rehab facility). After getting my mother completely settled in 1 of the bedrooms in the house, Mr. [redacted] asked me to sign the contract papers. He knew I had taken my mother for x-rays & a dr. appt. that morning & the dr. had said her cracked bone might heal in 4 weeks, with 2 more weeks of rehab. Mr. [redacted] said I had agreed to 3 months, which wasn't true & he would have to charge me daily rate of $150, which came to $4,700. Even when I offered to pay him $3,000 for a full 3 months, that my mother wouldn't be there, he still refused & wanted $4,7000. I was almost in tears so my husband told him it was elderly abuse, etc. and Mr. [redacted] called the police on my husband! We ended up having to call a cab which would take a wheelchair, and move my mother to another facility!Desired Settlement: Other people have the knowledge of how Mr. [redacted] does business by once he has a person located at his house, he feels he has the leverage to raise his prices, which made me feel I was at his mercy without any recourse.

Response:
Dear Revdex.com:Thank you for notifying me regarding this complaint. First of all, what was agreed upon, prior to the complainant and her husband bringing in their mother, was that she will stay for at least 3 months and the agreed amount was $2500 per month. The complainant was the one changing the agreed timeframe at the last minute. The family was working with a senior referral agency and we have proof to show that at least 3 months was the agreed timeframe that their mother will stay in the home. Fyi, this rate is already extremely discounted for a private room in a senior care facility in the Rocklin area and for the level of care their mother needed. When they arrived at the facility, I was then informed by the family that there is a change in their plans, that their mother will only stay for 6 weeks as the doctor told them that she only needs 6 (six) weeks of care. This is considered short-term stay and respite is charged daily not monthly. As I was explaining this, the complainant's husband became irate, raising his voice, started moving in closer and closer to me. There were two residents in the area at that time as well. One of our residents got afraid and asked to leave the area immediately. The husband would not calm down. This is why 911 was called and Rocklin police responded to our aid. After this, they did offer to pay a different amount but due to the behavior of the complainant's husband, we thought it was best for them to go to another facility to avoid any more conflict and we don't want any incidents such as this happening in our facility as we have frail residents. We take pride on taking good care of our residents and having a good relationship with our residents' family members. It is unfortunate that this happened but it would not have happened if we were told of the change before they brought their mother to the facility. Note: The facility name and address in this complaint is not correct.Sincerely, [redacted]Administrator
