A Maid to Sparkle

Ann Jackson of Sparkle Clean charged my credit card an unauthorized amount.

I authorized Ann Jackson to charge my credit card the amount of $75 for one day of cleaning service. During our phone call, Ms. Jackson informed me that the cleaning lady received a parking ticket while at my residence and asked that I pay for the ticket. I told Ms. Jackson that I am not responsible for the parking ticket and I would not pay it. I received in the mail on May 14, 2012 a letter from Ms. Jackson containing a receipt of a charge on my card for $101.25 which is $26.25 over the authorized amount. In the letter Ms. Jackson claimed that I agreed to pay for half of the parking ticket in addition to $10 gas money for the cleaning lady who had to return to my residence a second time. The first time she arrived late (she is to arrive at 8 a.m.). Becuase she was late and did not inform me of her tardiness, no one was home and she set off the alarm.

I called Ms. Jackson and asked her to return the $26.25 that she stole from me in addition to my key (which she has yet to return). Ms. Jackson said that I agreed to pay for all parking tickets received by the cleaning people while at my residence. Why anyone would agree to that is beyond me. But I do know that I never agreed to that and I never agreed to pay any amount for gas. It's only $26.25 so if I agreed to it I would hardly be disputing the matter. Ms. Jackson refuses to return my money.

As I mentioned, this is a small amount but I cannot sit by while a business person steals money from me. She had no right to decide how much to charge my account. We cannot allow businesses to do this type of thing without reproach. I wonder how many unauthroized charges she makes on the accounts of other customers?
