A Construction

On december,17 of 2014 I entered in to a contract with [redacted] street [redacted], NY [redacted].The job included a 10'x16' fully finished addition, A set of stairs going to attic and a wall w/door leading to basement.My proposal was as follows. $14,500.00 for the 10' x16" addition....

$1,500.00 for architect, permit and licensing fees.$500.00 for a land survey and Then $2,000.00 To build stairs to attic and wall w/ door to basement.I was given $5,000.00 in cash to start. ( I requested a check, But she refused). My first attempt to pick up deposit wasdelayed due to [redacted]'s boyfriend stealing it. A few days later. I received the $5,000.00 in cash. (Again. Irequested a check.) Extreme cold set in very early. I was unable to break ground. I decided to perform all insidework and begin building addition when weather allowed. I paid for arcitects plans and land survey. Then I built thestairs and basement wall and told Miss [redacted] I would be back when weather broke.The weather broke in May and I received a phone call from Miss [redacted]. She told me she had to lend the rest of hermoney to an unmentioned person and had no money to finish the project. The work I finished was $2,000.00. Thearchitect fees were $1,500.00 and the land survey was $500.00. That left $1,000.00 from the original $5,000.00.But considering she broke the contract. I felt she wasn't entitled to it.I would like to add that The work conditions were less than desirable. I had to navigate my way around the animalfeces in the basement as well as the lofting smell of smoke which was clearly not tobacco.Thank You,
