DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS!!! WHAT GOOD IS A "ONE YEAR WARRANTY" IF THEY DO NOT HONOR IT? We used A&B Roofing to fix a dormer on an 8-year-old house. They told us, upon inspection, that there was no flashing around the dormer. They said they could repair it for $575. A week later, they showed up while we were not at home & "fixed it" (or so they said). The next time it rained, water still poured in. We contacted them again and again and again. They never answer their phone so all we could do was leave messages. Three months later and they have not been back. They took our money and did not repair the leaks. We have since hired another roofer to fix it. They said there was no flashing around the dormer. So, A&B did NOT put the flashing up that they said they did. Fraud plain & simple. We are going to pursue legal action to get our money back.
Review: They did not read the directions of one of the materials they used when replacing my roof. It clearly states that it is not to be used on boards (which my roof deck is)only sheet material. This underlayment is now on my roof (almost permanently from what I understand) and I am unsure of how it will perform. Then, after they "dried in" the roof, it leaked a substantial amount of water into my attic on two separate occasions. I also hired them to install gutters on my house, which they did. The gutters were actually sloped the wrong way (away from the downspouts)! They attempted to repair them and now they look terrible, still don't work properly, and I have a bunch of empty holes drilled into the new fascia I just installed. My house is a simple ranch style with a 4-12 pitch, about as easy a house to roof and install gutters on, and they couldn't seem to do an adequate job on either. We verbally renegotiated on the phone while I was at work one day because of the constant problems. They now claim that the roof is as promised and deserve the full amount. I have damaged ceilings, poorly installed gutters, and a roof that sits atop underlayment that is not compatible with my roof deck.Desired Settlement: Their website claims 100% satisfaction guaranteed or they will remove the roof and refund the customer all of their money. I would like them to remove the roof and the [redacted] ice and water underlayment once I have a competent roofer lined up to redo it.

Response:
I have been in contact with Mr [redacted] via e-mail. He asked if I could get a letter from the manufacture of [redacted] Ice and water shield stating that the product will be no negitive consequences from being installed on boards not sheeting material.
When the roof leaked in the living room, I immediately told him that we would take care of the ceiling damage. He told me that he was in the middle of a complete remodel and he was taking the ceiling down anyway. Not until today has he mentioned anything regarding the ceiling.
Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent Mr [redacted] this morning.
[redacted],
I apologize that you didn't get the first e-mail that I sent you for a
week, I did send it out the day after I received yours but for some
reason it came back to me saying "unable to send".
[redacted] and I went over your requests that you sent and will fix the issues you have.
I will get a written letter from the manufacturer stating that there will be no negative consequences from being installed on boards not sheet material.
We will replace the 1 1/2 boot with 2" boot. Where you state there was
not Ice and Water shield on the north side, It was installed before the
shingles were put down.
We will also remove all the gutters and fill the screw holes. We will
not charge you for the gutters, but you can hire a gutter contractor to
install the gutters.
When you showed me the leak in your living room, I did say that we would
take care of that and you said the ceiling was coming down anyway for
the remodel. And not to worry about it.
But what we will do is after we get the issues taken care of above, we
will file an insurance claim for your ceiling and have the adjuster
have the attic inspected.
I hope with this e-mail we can reach an agreement and have everything settled.
Thank you
