On 3/21/2014,(mileage 91713), my company, A-1automotive repair center, replaced a timing belt for *** *** on his Subaru Forester as part of routine maintenanceWe also informed him of an oil leak and replaced an oil cooler o-ringOn 11/21/(mileage 99591) *** returned for an oil
change and serpentine belt replacementThen on 5/1/2015(mileage 106695) *** returned for an oil change and asked us to check out an engine noise, when we checked *** oil level we noticed it was very low, which we informed him of, and made notes on his invoiceWe also told him we believe that he has a lower end noise and that the engine was possibly damagedIn late July (more than months & 15,miles after timing belt replacement) I was contacted by *** and he asked if my company's work came with any kind of warrantyI informed him that most work came with a month 12,mile manufacturer's warranty and asked why, he had told me that there was a problem with his timing beltI informed him that a timing belt is a wearable item and is tough to warranty outside the 12/warrantyAfter several phone calls to my company, by ***, he informed me that he felt my company was at fault for his engine noise and that another shop informed him the timing belt tensioner was installed improperly and the bolt for the tensioner was not tightened downHe then said that he was looking for $for parts replacement, from me, without my company seeing his vehicleAt that point I told him that the only way my company would participate in any warranty work, if under warranty, is if the vehicle was brought to my shop for inspectionAt that point *** informed me that the other shop had his vehicle apart, I told *** that I would tow his vehicle to my shop for inspection and that if it was something my company had done we would go from thereHe again insisted that my company should reimburse parts cost without seeing his vehicle, I informed *** that without seeing his vehicle my company would not participate in repair costsIt is my belief that it would not be possible for *** vehicle to go months and 15,miles with an improperly installed timing belt tensionerFurthermore, I informed *** that my company was willing to tow and inspect his vehicle for any incorrectly installed parts but instead he wanted reimbursement sight unseen, which is just not practical'
