A-1 Asphalt Paving Reviews (4)

Review: Do not do any business with this company. They are scam Artists. I was sold by a young kid driving around that he was going to patch all the cracks in my driveway and seal it afterwards. I paid the man to do the work as hired. When I came home I found that none of the cracks were sealed, and the driveway was very lightly skimmed. Now that it is raining, all of my driveway is turning brown and the sealant is running off the driveway. I tried calling to talk to someone about this issue and no one will pick up or return my phone call. I am very unhappy with their service and hope no one uses them for any type of service.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of 1/2 of my money. I will pay for the sealanty but I do not not want to pay for patching that was not done.

Review: Owner, [redacted] charged me to install 1200 sq ft of asphalt for a new driveway. He installed only 750 sq ft. He also contracted to apply 4-6 inches of rocks and 2-3 inches of processed stones and dust before applying the asphalt. He only applied about an inch of rocks and then applied the asphalt. A totally lousy job. The driveway will eventually sink because he did not apply the rocks and stones and dust to the foundation before applying the asphalt. The whole thing will have to be dug out and redone. What a shame. I should have researched him before hiring.Desired Settlement: I desire to be refunded. I also want him to take the asphalt out so I can hire an honest professional contractor to redo the job.

Review: On June 28, 2014 we hired A-1 Asphalt Paving to repave and grade our driveway (contract says "Paving new driveway"), which was in a deteriorating state. We had hoped to have the original driveway removed and grading problems, which resulted in a lack of drainage, to be repaired. Within a few weeks of their completion, a moderate rainfall caused water to collect--not only in the original problem spot, but in the garage and subsequently into the downstairs hallway. We called and this was dealt with in a timely fashion, but the problem was not resolved. They installed what appears to be a speed bump at the top of the driveway, but this only exacerbated the problem. Water collected there between the garage door and the bump and continued to seep into the garage and into the hallway. We have called numerous times since then, received many broken promises that they would return, remove the bump and regrade the driveway for better drainage. No one has returned to carry out these promises and now our phone calls go unanswered.Desired Settlement: We want the problem resolved or our money returned for non-fulfillment of our contractual agreement. They claim their work is guaranteed, but we have yet see proof.

Review: I had my driveway repaved last fall. I cannot get hold of the company that did the work. I have been trying since last summer/ fall. [redacted] is who I worked with. A-1 Asphalt Paving is the company that he owns and did the work. I have called the phone number on the bill he gave me repeatedly. I have called his cell phone (###-###-####) and left messages repeatedly. I faxed to the number on the bill on 12/06/2013 and the fax wont go through to the fax number. I mailed a certified letter on 12/07/2013 to the address on the bill and the letter was returned in the mail. The problem is that when they repaved the driveway [redacted] told us on 09/04/2013 to stay off of the driveway for 10 days. A sink hole developed in the driveway before we even drove on the driveway. I have gray dirt/fill which they put under my driveway as they ran into a problem washing down my driveway every time it rains. And of course now the sink hole is much larger like 5 feet long at this point and growing. I spoke to him on the phone that Friday night and he said he would come out to the house that weekend, but he did not. I have not heard from him since. I cant contact him. The bill says his work is guaranteed, but I cant get him to even talk to me. I also have 4 flowers that have grown through the new pavement this spring. Maybe that is normal to have flowers come through a brand new driveway, but I doubt it. I paid him on time every time he asked for more money. I paid him in good faith. He did not give me the option of holding back money to see if I was satisfied with the work. I just want to get my driveway fixed and am not trying to cause trouble, but I feel I have no recourse at this point other than to contact you for help.I have the bill which shows Paid in Full and all of the check numbers written on it that I paid him. I have the fax that would not go through. I have the letter that was returned in the mail. I have the original bill.Desired Settlement: I would like my driveway repaired. It is brand new and I have sink holes in it and flowers growing through the asphalt. The bill states "All Work Guaranteed".
