888 Camera Express, Inc.

Review: This is to complain about outrageous pricing – and a deliberate attempt to deceive tourist/transient customers. The 888 Camera Express Store at [redacted] (at [redacted].) sells suitcases, cameras, etc. Obviously, mostly for tourists.

On Thursday 4/**/14, I asked the price of a Bower XPDC5L digital camera battery replacement – and was told it was $88.95. I responded that was outrageous and asked the owner(?) for his best price. He then quoted $75, "cash".

In a rush to replace my camera battery, he took it out of the package, put it in the camera and removed the price tag from the plastic wrapping.

Over-the-weekend, I priced it at $8.99 (not $89.98!) from Amazon and $16.99 from Staples.

I returned on Sunday night and complained about such outrageous pricing to take advantage of tourists and transients – and offered to pay $25 (for convenience) but wanted $50 back. After a long, contentious argument, he took the battery back and finally refunded my $75.

If not illegal, such actions are, at least, unethical and take advantage of tourists and transients.
