5 Star Plumbing performed a repair service that lasted a month and a week - Upon trying to contact them, I kept getting the runaround.
On March 21, 2020, I called 5 Star Best Plumbing regarding consistent water dripping from the faucet in the bathroom shower. I spoke to *** who said she would have a technician contact me - *** (technician) contacted me to send pictures of the issue and pre-existing part -- He informed me that he would "remove and install 3 new handle replacement kits, 3 stems, 3 seats, and 3 handles" quoting parts and labor at $320. Once the work was completed it seemed to be in working condition. On May 2 the cold water handle that was repaired no longer shut off and the water continued to run consistently. I contacted the company on May 3rd (since no one answered on May 2) and a technician by the name of *** came out and quoted a price of $600 to replace what broke inside the wall. He said, "it should have been replaced initially." From there, we asked to speak to the Manager which is *** to discuss prorated pricing since this was not our fault and should have been assessed properly from the beginning and fixed correctly. *** stated that he would speak with *** and provide me and my mother with 3 options via email. After speaking with *** at 9:30 am, I waited until 11:00am before reaching out to him at 11:10am, 12:34pm, 2:29pm and was unsuccessful in my attempts. They kept telling me he was busy or in a meeting and that he would call back in 5 minutes or 20 minutes, but never did - and I never received an email. My mother began reaching out to *** at 3:30pm and was able to speak to him only after threatening to contact the Revdex.com to file a complaint. During the conversation he apologized and stated that the work was not performed properly which is why *** was no longer with the company. He then stated that the reason he hadn't sent the options for us is because he thought *** had done so, but not to worry he would take care of it. His offer was to apply the $320.00 that was originally spent to the new work order that would be performed. Option one that he suggested would cost $1600.00 minus the $320.00 to bring everything to code with a warranty of 3 years. Option two, was to replace valve, and brass nipples and other replacements for $1280.00 minus $320.00. I asked him to put all this information in writing and send via email to me or my mother. He said he would do so later in the afternoon or first thing the following morning (May 5); needless to say, by noon I hadn't received anything. My mom reached out again at 12:57 pm and he was apparently in a meeting once again - the receptionist took a message said he would call back and he never did. My mom reached out to the office in Van Nuys and was told that *** and other staff were in a meeting and would return the call in 15-20 minutes; waited for 40 minutes and no one called. My mom finally got a return call 2 hours later from a *** who stated he was the Owner. He listened to the complaint and apologized and said he understood why we were upset. My mom asked him to give her back half of the $320.00 that was paid as she had contracted another business to perform the work-- he said that was fair and that he would contact accounting and to expect a check in 5 to 7 business days. However, he lied and no check to date has been issued.

Desired Outcome

At this point, I am requesting a full refund - I feel that the companies practices are dishonest and disheartening toward the customer. They provided continuous false hope and information. I tried my hardest to bring resolution to this matter by reaching out to the *** who was very unprofessional in his dealing with this matter; which is why I had to speak with someone whom I thought had more authority and would be fair. Although I spoke to Don who indicated that he was the Owner and had been in business for over 40 years, I felt he brought no resolution to matter either. He was untruthful in his representation and only said what he thought I wanted to hear and provided no follow through. After reading some of the reviews on Yelp many were unfavorable and I am wondering if this is truly a legitimate business.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention as we strive to provide a 5 Star experience with every customer we service and endeavor to create a lifetime relationship with our clients.

This customer's experience was certainly not up to our normal high standards and was unfortunately a direct result of personnel changes that were occurring simultaneously within that department to improve our service to our customers.

We have sent an apology letter along with a full refund on 06/25/20 to this customer for the miscommunication that this customer experienced.
