4 Seasons Air is agreeing to $400.00 to settle the disputebetween our customer and our company. If you have anyquestions please feel free to call us.Thank you.Bran S[redacted]
We received the complaint for [redacted], ID number [redacted], and will attempt to explain our position. We were called on September 1st for service on his air conditioner as he stated it wasn't performing the way it should. On our first visit we found the unit slightly low on charge, charged the...
unit and it returned to normal operation. Two days later we were called again saying the unit was not cooling once again. Upon our second visit we found the air conditioner completely out of charge. Our tech leak tested the air conditioner to find a crack in one of the refrigeration lines on the air conditioner. Our tech advised teh customer that it breached the refrigeration lines and he would be able to make the repair. The crack was brazed closed, he pressure tested the system at 150PSI for 20 minutes with dry nitrogen, evacuated the system and recharged the unit.[redacted] was referred to us by another client and was provided with a written estimate for a new air conditioner on 5.11.2011. The estimate clearly states 10 year parts warranty from Trane and 1 yr workmanship labor from 4 Seasons Air. The air conditioner was installed on 5.13.2011 and the invoice also stated 10 year parts warranty from Trane and 1 yr workmanship from 4 season Air. As part of our customer service, we collect the model and serial numbers and register warranty on their behalf which a copy was mailed to [redacted] within a week of the initial installation. The unit has been isntalled fo 4 years and 4 months and has been through 5 summer seasons. At this point it is clear it was not a result of poor workmanship as it has worked without issue for 5 summers. The fitting that cracked was inside the unit itself and could be repaired with a simple copper coupler. There were no parts to obtain from Trane and it was byond our 1 year labor warranty. This service request was the only time we have been to this home since the time of the initial installation. We send bi-annual service reminders to all of our clients but he has never taken advantage of the offer or ever had the system check out.The service performed to repair the air conditioner included 2 visits, the first to charge the unit, the second to find the leak and make the repair. He was only charged for the second visit which included 3 hours labor, 6.4 lbs. of refrigerant, $6 for a copper coupler, and a nitrogen pressure test. We actually had 10 lbs of refrigerant used as well as 2 visits and 5 total hours to make the repair. He claims that he wasn't aware of the potential charges but he is responsible to maintain his air conditioner. It isn't often that we see this type of repair on a Trane unit but it can happen to any air conditioner over time. Trane warranty would cover the cost of any part for a period of 10 years but they do not cover labor or refrigerant. After [redacted] received the invoice he called the office on numerous occasions trying to argue that the repair should have been warranty and that he felt he should not be charged. Many of the calls were made after hours or on the weekend after normal business hours. His air conditioner has worked without failure for over 4 years. As an installer and service provider we take pride in our work and customer service but it is beyond our control when units have failures that are not installation related.[redacted]'s last response asked us to waive the charges or he would complain to the Revdex.com and [redacted] While we take pride in our ratings, we cannot compromise our warranty standards or rates because we were threatened. Every customer in America that installs an HVAC of any kind has warranty terms that spell out what is covered and for how long. He was told from teh time of the estimate, the invoice, and within a week of the install exactly what his period was. His air conditioner is up and running - he has refused to pay for any of our work. To date his invoice remains open.I have included copies of the initial estimate, invoice from the installation, warranty document as well as the repair invoice.Feel free to contact me with any additional questions.Sincerely,Bran S[redacted]
I am rejecting this response because of the lack of accountability, numerous false statements and incorrect information provided. It supports everything that we are saying about misleading/poor service and the unfair treatment from this provider. I have attached the email history of our post transaction conversations. Notice that I mentioned numerous time and proactively that I was looking for a fair invoice, given no prior estimate, and never stated I wouldn't pay them anything. I stated clearly that I would not pay the unfair $697.Notice that Bran threatened COLLECTIONS AGENCY referral while I was discussing fair treatment and negotiation.Yes - Once he threatened me, I transparently informed him, that I would reach out to others for help, including [redacted] and Revdex.com.Other False/Inaccurate Comments:4 Seasons didn't track that they had to come out and restore the unit within the first two months of installation. We did both remember the conversation with the tech. Upon arrival for their first visit. our A/C wouldn't run at all. They came to the house, said they fixed it, and left. The A/C shut off again within the hour and I called immediately. They returned the next day, to fix it again. - Yes the tech work for 2 hrs on something and yes it is fixed now. This entire time - No Estimate or Update!! Just be clear - the last Bran or anyone shared was that Warranty would cover. I understand it is 5 yrs old - but seriously you have to update the customer. Note that his note confirms the component was part of the Warranty Trane unit (inside the unit). Finally - as you can see (from the email thread), I asked for a fair invoice, and was threatened with COLLECTIONS AGENCY referrals. He is correct that I have not paid any part of the invoice, until this is resolved. That is all I am asking. Recognize that the communication was poor, you incorrectly told me it was under warranty, forgot to provide an estimate, and we ask that you please provide us with a fair invoice.
