30th Avenue Car Corral Reviews (2)

In the early summer/late spring of 2014 I was in a desperate need of a vehicle. Therefore, due to my situation at the time, I gave [redacted] at the Car Corral my business. I first purchased a Toyota Rav4, and then a Jeep Grand Cherokee about a month later. It has been 7-8 months after the purchases (I am still making payments on both of the vehicles!)and it turns out both buys were unfortunate mistakes.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee was the first to have problems--before the first payment was even made! The passenger side window gave out a couple weeks after the vehicle was purchased. Disappointed, I called [redacted] and made him aware of what happened, thinking he would stand by his cars. He offered to fix it at an outrageous price, so I therefore fixed it myself which was a very good decision on my behalf since I noticed [redacted] has a monkey for a mechanic. At the midst of dealing with the window, I began taking closer looks at the vehicle. I noticed caps, screws, and other miscellaneous objects were improperly placed or thrown under the hood (read other reviews on [redacted] amateur mechanic). I also found out both the back brakes that came with the vehicle were completely worn out and so were the shocks. The ac is leaking refrigerant, the heater doesn't work, and the radiator is cracked...the only thing that is appealing of this vehicle is its low mileage, other than that, this truck was in need of much work when I bought it.
Fortunately, the Rav4 was not in as bad a condition as the Jeep, but I still had to make costly fixes shortly after I bought the vehicle (I would say within a month or less!). The first issue with this vehicle was the alternator. It completely gave out and left me stranded at my place of work. Jumping it did not help, since Japanese cars do not run with a dead battery! That was a 130 dollar fix. Shortly after that (about two weeks), I noticed the “check engine” light turned on. I hooked up my diagnostic scanner to the car and it told me the fuel canister was not working. That was another 250 dollars. Like the Jeep, the ac did not work also. I added refrigerant and it helped, but it still does not cool like it is supposed to. That’s something I will need to have looked at this spring! I also replaced the sway bar links on the front of the vehicle (not a big deal, but this should have been checked out by the dealer!). I also want to mention that I am still waiting for a plastic corner piece that is missing on the rack of the vehicle (I noticed it was missing at the dealership and brought it up). [redacted] told me he would call me when found one at the junk yard and fix that. Well, it has been 7-8 months and I still have not heard a word from him…there really must be a shortage of 01 Rav4 racks or [redacted] is just simply a deceiving business man (I think the deceiving business man nails it on the head!).
It is quite obvious that Matt at the Car Corral gets cheap, crappy cars that look fine cosmetically but are really beaters under the hood. He does the minimum to fix them…as long as they make it through a few test drives and pull off the lot so it can become his paying customer’s problem later on. I actually decided to just check and make sure I was not just a really unlucky customer, so I paid the Car Corral another visit. I looked at only one car, a Chevy Equinox, and I was relieved. The heater did not work and neither did the heated seats. I let the car run long enough to make sure and nothing. I was told by one of [redacted] associates that the issue could be fixed, but I know better. I am sure there are more things wrong with that SUV too.
As a result, I DO NOT recommend this dealership to anyone. If one still decides to go with Car Corral, I recommend one pays really close attention or bring along someone that is car savvy. However, there are better dealerships in Kenosha. I recommend Guaranteed Auto Sales. I should have gone there in the first place!

I have bought 2 cars from Car Corral both have been great. I have referred friends and family to this dealership.
