Alpha Mechanical (AKA 1st Choice Service-Repair) agreed to supply a Comfort Aire replacement furnace to a property I co-own with my wife and son (***) Delivery was to take place 10 to 14 days after 10/02/2019. A down payment of $3,700 was made on 10-14-2019. After several delays in delivery (and a month without heat) the wrong furnace was delivered to the Rigby address (11-14-2019) The furnace delivered was a Trane not a Comfort-Aire as stated in the purchase agreement and does not appear to be of sufficient BTU rating to supply the required square footage. Alpha Mechanical has so far resisted correcting the problem and the home still has no heat.

We proposed work on Mr.s home, when I inspected the furnace and associated ductwork Mr. was concerned the furnace he currently had was to large for the home and indeed the furnace was way to large for the home which is very typical in old oil fired heaters. Mr. and I discussed replacing all the existing ductwork cause it was to small and I assured Mr. at that time that a reduction in furnace size would allow for the ductwork to remain, plus he wouldn't have to deal with legally disposing on the asbestos the was on all the ductwork. The furnace quoted was 10 - 14 days from the date it was ordered and as the signed proposal shows the furnace was not paid for until the 14th of October, at that time Mr. told me he had a friend in Washington state that did heating and could get a comparable furnace in a week. I told him I had family in Washington that owned a HVAC company and I could check with him and he told me that was fine if we could substitute a faster furnace.

At this time I had my boss perform permitting required heat loss calculations on the house and we determined an appropriate working size furnace required for the home and ordered a Trane Company oil furnace that cost me roughly $40.00 more than the quoted furnace and was a superior product to what was originally quoted to the customer. (Also the signed proposal does not specify replacement furnace size.)

Mr. is correct in the fact the dealer shipped us the incorrect furnace and then a second furnace was damaged, the third was going to be delayed again due to Veterans day so we sent an employee to Boise again at my expense to make sure and pick up the unit so we could install on our scheduled and promised day.

During the installation process we my men heard Mr. fighting on the phone about having to pay any of the portion of the bills on his home repairs and didn't feel like he should be responsible and have to make those payments. The next morning we received demands and threats from Mr. in regards to his installation and before I could respond in a professional written matter and show him his proposal he fired us from the project after everything but the fire off and test had been completed making this simply look like an attempt to steal from our company, nothing more, nothing less.

I responded in writing stating out position requiring payment in full with certified funds and we will fire off the new unit providing heat to the home within 30 minutes and have received zero response from this customer again leading us to believe it was never his intention to pay us at all.

I have no intention of placing an oversized unit incorrectly into his home, or finish my install without payment in full guaranteed with the dishonesty that this customer has shown.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The furnace brand substitution was not approved by the owners or co-owner/occupant of the residence. An independent evaluation of the installation of the furnace that was delivered (performed by a qualified heating contractor on 11/18/2019) indicates that the installation does not meet current code and is unsafe as installed. The installation by Alpha Mechanical technicians disturbed the seal on asbestos insulation on heating ductwork which must now be remediated before any final inspection can be approved. The assertion by Alpha that any payment was withheld is disputed; Alpha received an up-front payment of $3700 and has not performed as per the approved purchase agreement.

Sincerely

If it was possible to give negative stars I would. We purchased a home that before we did so Alpha mechanical Serviced the AC and guaranteed it worked. Once we moved in we had water all over the basement emanating from the furnace. We called Alpha as they were the ones to do the service. They attempted to remedy the problem and left. When we ran the unit the next time again we had water all over. When we called again I left a message at their receptionist saying it looks like it wasn't done well and not up to code. I admit I was wrong in my inexperience. However, I get a call from Matt part-owner telling me how dumb I was to think those things and how dare I question his work since he has been doing it for 15+ year. Since this was done through the home purchase we went through the seller's agent. It has now been a month of trying to get Alpha Mechanica back to fix the issue. No word from them because as they told the seller's agent I was not nice to them so I am not a high priority. Poor customer service and Poor job done.

Mr. *** called after we had performed our initial inspection with a complaint of a condensation leak in his basement that appeared after the ac started which was after the initial inspection. we sent a service technician out immediately to rectify the situation for this customer.
It was after this second trip that the owner called and was extremely volatile for and ignorant to my girls in the office staff that I called him back and addressed all of his baseless and inaccurate accusations in regards to his installation.
He proclaimed that the furnace had been installed upside down and was unable to operate correctly cause he had researched this and had a friend look at it.
He proclaimed that the furnace and AC had never worked in the time since they had been installed and that the previous homeowner had never been in his basement in that last (2) years to notice the leak.
At that time I informed him that he had no warranty on this unit that it was getting ready to enter its (3) heating season and (2) cooling season and the home had been sold so his threats of having someone else come fix it matter not to me at this point do to his ignorance and mouthy nature.
At this point I contacted the builder of the home as I had done this project as a favor to him and asked him how to proceed and Brian informed me that this guy was to get nothing from me or anyone else due to how he treats people.
I then spoke to the realtor and explained the entire situation to hear and basically told her that I would do the repair personally as he was calling and getting very ignorant with her as well, I explained to her that Alpha Mechanical Heating & AC had nothing to do with this installation at all that I installed it with my sons as a favor to Brian but that I was in the middle oh Chemo treatments and would get to him when I could as long as he stayed out of the way and kept his mouth shut with whoever I sent out.
With my Chemo treatments I was able to get to him in a timely manner so I went ahead and sent my service tech out and made the repair including ordering a new part that was glitching which should be paid for by the home owner but I am sure I will get stiffed, I have dealt with his kind before.
And for some additional clarity I own 0% of Alpha Mechanical Heating &AC and never have so that's I direct lie on his part and I have over (31) years of experience in the field so his claims I made about my experience level is just another one of his outrageous lies.
I would say my dealings with Mr. are complete moving forward from this point he can find another mechanical contractor to deal with his lies and attitude, his $90.00 isn't worth the time and aggravation and treatment to everyone involved from my company, to the builder, to he sellers and their realtor that comes with a guy like this.
