1/2 Price Movers Reviews (%countItem)

I have many issues and complaints with this horribly run, dishonest and very unethical business. I used them back in August of 2019 of what would be the *** and final time we will ever use these con artists and liars ever again. I called up back in July of 2019 and asked what it would cost to move us from our apartment in old bridge to our first home just 5 minutes down the road with not too much furniture. This means it wasn't an aggressive move and they wanted about 900.00!!!@@@##?? that's insanity and I told them how is that 1/2 price and I'm a repeat client. They agreed and took off 100.00. I said ok and let's proceed. I then emailed them a very honest, detailed and itemized list of what exactly we would need moved. They prepared it and we agreed again to proceed. The guy I was dealing with was begging for me to go on google reviews and give them a good review and I stated only when the move was done and I was satisfied. Then I emailed them 2x asking what the price and policy is to remove furniture from the inventory to save us money and the guy said, "Just let the movers know when they get there as to what exactly you're removing and they will adjust the bill accordingly." I said ok and even emailed him again making sure and literally asking him if I was going to get screwed on this and wanted to make sure that they would adjust the bill honestly and ethically and he said yes. I still have the emails to prove it. They got to my apartment 51 minutes late with no apology and no real excuses, they looked disgusting and filthy, were passing around the same cigarette to each other and didn't have gloves on either, they just didn't look professional and looked like thugs that were just doing a weekend gig. Then I meet the supervisor of this gang and he had this glazed over look into his eyes and I thought he was either high or on something. I told him exactly what we wanted removed from the inventory and he didn't adjust the bill as stated, but called William, the owner, and told him all of the furniture that I wanted removed and it was significant. William lied to me and said no, that he wasn't taking anything off of the bill. I told the guy I have 2 emails stating differently then he changed his tune and took off a whole 25.00 dollars. Unbelievable!!! They lied to me again and that was a disgrace. I removed a whole coffee table w/two end tables and two big pieces of a 6 piece sectional and they promised me something and lied again. I didn't add more furniture to this, but took way and they lied. Then the supervisor had the audacity to insult myself and my wife by telling us how filthy he felt our apartment was and that he had bad allergies. He kept asking us repeatedly where we were moving and this seriously alarmed me because he just wasn't paying attention and couldn't remember. Then they stated if I wanted the lamps to be moved and he said no because they break very easily. I said they moved lamps for me 3x before in the past and it's ok as long as they secure it properly. Then they took my sectional and placed it into the back of the truck and were ready to go. They drove a few feet to the dumpster to discard the two pieces of sectional that we didn't want and as soon as they opened the truck, the furniture literally fell out and I was in shock. They laughed it off and were on their way. I told my wife we were in trouble and we needed to get them in and out of our new home. When they got to my house, he showed me he broke the lamp and I was furious because very obviously and clearly didn't secure it properly and accordingly as promised. When my mother in law questioned him, he looked like he wet his pants, started to cry and gave us a blank stare because his brain couldn't process what the word secure meant. I told him they owe me 150.00 and then he called William and was pacing like and an animal outside and once again this con artist, refused to do the right thing in order to save a buck. I was enraged, the supervisor actually blamed me and stated I wasn't a real man. I wanted to do things that I would have gotten arrested for and said just do your job and get out of my house. They then brought the wrong pieces of the sectional that I didn't want and threw away at the dump the pieces I actually wanted. Once again, I said you owe me 500.00 bucks, he laughed and refused and then I said I was calling the cops on them. He called William again, looked absolutely terrified and then like a coward and scared child, just got in the truck at William's instructions and drove away like a coward. The cops came, took my statement and said I couldn't press charges but could go to my local court and file a complaint and do one with the Revdex.com. Then I noticed they damaged a 3100.00 bed by not disassembling it correctly and they reassembled it by literally taking everything apart and didn't put it back the right way. This cost me over 200.00 to fix and I still have the invoice from sleep number to prove it. They damaged a expensive picture frame and overall were rude, condescending and insulted us, lied to us, made my wife cry, caused me massive amounts of stress and rage, broke our furniture, drove away from the scene like little girls and took our money for a job they didn't do in totality as promised. We have never gotten a call from William and the rest of the liars o even apologize for what they did. They did nothing but mock us and take our money. Big mistake. Everything those movers did to us, they had the absolute nerve to laugh at us, lie and blame us for it and didn't do their job. Let me be extremely clear here, I allowed them to talk down to us because they had my furniture held hostage and this will never ever happen again in my house. I spoke to my attorney, Danielle L and was advised to file a small claims suit and that's exactly what I'm going to do. They ruined what was supposed to be the best day of our lives and I'm coming for our money and respect. I want them held accountable for lying to us, promising to do a job they didn't do, mocking us and laughing at us from the truck when the cops were here and more. This won't go unpunished and I demand retribution and will get it. Believe me!!!!!

Hello *** sorry to hear about your last experience with us being a 4 time repeat customer. All our movers are overseen by a highly trained veteran mover management team who did everything possible to complete your move. On average we complete about 60 moves per week and strive to be the number one moving company in the tri-state area. Was very surprised to see this complaint. Most customers rave about the men on your move and constantly praise us for a job well done. You did sign a contract which states everything was received in good condition and worked with our operations manager the day of the move to complete all services requested.I believe there was a lot of miscommunication between you and your wife which we had rectified by returning to the pickup the sofa pieces. After contacting our claims department you did not supply any pictures or evidence of any damages. You can still contact our claims department maybe we can make this right.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved

Absolutely a lie with this whole statement. There was ZERO, I MEAN ZERO amounts of miscommunication between myself and my wife. This is an absolute lie and wont be tolerated. Also, you claim you're shocked but you know very well I call the cops on your guys. Furthermore, yes we signed something stating our items were in good condition but your supervisor literally forced us to before the items were removed from the truck. When I refused to do this, he said it was policy and I wouldn't get my items unless I did. We argued with him even more and he said its policy and there was no other way. He even lied again and said the lamp was the only thing he broke before they took anything else off of the truck. In regards to getting you pictures, that's another bold faced lie as I text the lady you were hiding behind that day, the pictures of ny bed and I believe my couch too. I refused to call you about this and simply dudnt trust that you would make anything right as you deliberately ignored my calls and complaints the day of the move, hid behind your wife or whom that lady was I kept speaking to on the phone and NEVER EVER even bothered to call me like a man and follow up with me. Your reviews on google are highly suspect at best, you, your movers and your company seriously failed me on one of the biggest dats of my life and now, you're still lying and making excuses. Look at how you treated me that day???? Why would I trust you or any claims department to handle what your guys did when you could have done the right thing, right then and there but refused. You know you're wrong, a liar and a cheat. I can absolutely refute honestly and ethically any answers you give that try to discredit my honest and sadly truthful claims. You owe us an apology and money and respect

Revdex.com:

Hello and good morning,
I hope what I'm about to write isn't too long to post, but it's imperative that you and the public have all of the information. When I read William's response, I became even more enraged than I already was. I absolutely couldn't believe that he was acting like this was news to him, stated that we didn't put a claim through and had the unbelievable nerve to blame myself and my wife. That was the final straw and insult and I started the process of filing a lawsuit in small claims court. I knew what they did to us was wrong and unethical and then I found something out that blew my case wide open. I came across an article online and it was about 1/2 price movers and 28 other moving companies being fined 2500.00 in the state of nj for operating illegally and without any licenses, insurance etc. This was dated april of 2018. I was shocked and I called the attorney general's office to get more information.I spoke to state Investigator *** and he confirmed that as of this very email, William C and all of his moving companies still have no license and performed our move illegally and broke the law. He emphatically stated he never should have done our move, was warned and fined about this and he committed extortion by havi g his supervisor force us to sign a document stating our furniture was in proper order when it absolutely wasn't.I was now beyond enraged and immediately emailed william and told him everything that the attorney general's office said and told him I would bury him in court. Once I sent that out, I immediately received a phone call from his office and now the whole story changed. Now they are sorry, now they call me sir and Mr. Etc. Only now do they finally acknowledge me and our horrible day. William finally reached out to me and I have the texts to prove it, literally begging me not to sue and to give him a second chance. I absolutely refused and cursed him out 8 ways from Sunday. The absolute nerve of this man to lie to so many people and the Revdex.com and he knew the whole time he was operating illegally and still lied and blamed my wife!!!!! He kept reaching out to me and offered a very nice settlement but I refused. I was absolutely enraged and wanted him in court. After getting advice from my attorney, I decided to settle out of court. William C wrote us an extremely generous check, wrote my wife a letter of apology and even hand delivered to us. I'm going to be very blunt here. I'm not a stupid man and know without fail that the only reason he apologized is because I have proof he operated illegally and I personally have the power to make sure he doesn't get licensed in the state of nj because of what he did. He is an unbelievable liar and a horrible human.being to do what he did to us. But I gave him my word that as long as he fulfilled his end of the bargain I would drop the suit and help him to try to get his license in nj. I emailed the attorney general's office and asked for mercy and leniency and believe in second chances. He fully admitted to what he did, acknowledged everything and made up for it in spades. I wanted him to know that we aren't people you lie to, disrespect, steal from and mess with and I got all of our justice and then some..this matter is now closed and I'm done with them and moving on.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely

I contacted 1/2 price movers to get a price to move a piano from my basement to my sister’s home. My sister agreed to the price and hired 1/2 price movers to move the piano. On Wednesday August *, 2018 they arrived at my home at about 12pm with 2 men to move the piano. I was not home my mother was there to let them in. They were unable to move the piano so they called for more assistance and at about 3pm 4 more men got there to help at which point they were able to get the piano out of the basement. When I returned home about 5pm I had found damage to my steps and later learned they also damaged the piano they were paid to move. I called the company right away to which I was told the person who handles the claims (Linda) was out and would call me back tomorrow. After not receiving a call on Thursday I called in again on Friday and was told Linda was out of the office till Tuesday and would call me when she returned. On Tuesday I still received no call so I called in the afternoon and was told that Linda was gone for the day and would be in tomorrow between 9-2 and she would call me as soon as she got in. On Wednesday August , 2018 I called again and finally spoke with the person who handles claims and was told that they are not covered by their insurance for that and would not be paying for it. I was offered $150 as a settlement and was told that was the “best we could do”. Not only were my steps damaged but the piano which I paid them to move was also damaged. My sister paid $350 for them to move the piano. I tried to settle this with the company directly by sending them both a text and an email with the photos of all the damage and proof that it was caused by them.

1/2 Price Movers Response • Aug 30, 2018

Our claims department has accessed the damages and agrees to refund $350.00 .

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I was offered $150 from the company for damages as a take it or leave it. I have an email from them saying $150 not $350. Also I got a estimates from 2 different companies to fix the steps one was $4,800 the other was $5,000. Not to mention I'm also waiting for a price to fix the piano that they were paid $350 to move that they damaged while taking it up the stairs.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

They are offering my $350 for damages that they caused to my steps and piano. The estimated charge to fix just the steps alone is around $5,000 with all the work that is needed. I am willing to work with them to get this fixed but not by taking a $350 payoff. I have included both the cheaper of the two estimates I received as well as photos of the damage caused by there company.
