I have had my membership for over a year. I have been out of the state for some time, and they wouldn't cancel my membership over the phone.
I have had my membership with 10 fitness for over a year. Due to my job I have been away from the state of Arkansas for long periods of time, so I had called several times trying to cancel my membership over the phone. I was told I had to physically come into the location to cancel, and they couldn't make an exception even though I was out of state for extended periods of time. I changed my credit card in order to stop payments from being drafted from my account because I had not used their service of been to their gym since September/October-ish of 2018. I finally was able to go into the store to cancel my membership in person due to their policy. They said I owe them $50 something dollars for a late payment and annual fee. When I signed up with the gym I was told, after asking, there is no annual fee. I feel as if I shouldn't be held responsible for this amount of money due to the fact I was told there was not an annual fee with my membership when I signed up (cancelled with another gym, and this was one of the reasons I chose 10 Fitness). I also feel as if I shouldn't be charged the late fee because I tried to cancel my service NUMEROUS times over the phone because I was out of state and told I must do so in person. If the person who holds the membership physically can't come into the store because they're out of state, the company should make an exception and cancel the membership. I have been paying for a membership I cannot use for 8 months. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and would not recommend this service to anyone.
I would like to AT LEAST have the $50 something dollars I "owe" them to be removed. I also feel like I should be refunded the money I have been paying for the last 8 months since they would not cancel my membership over the phone. I had left a couple of messages for the manager to give me a call back, and I never received that call. Today on 6/13/19 I was in town and able to finally come into the gym in person and cancel my membership. I explained the situation and was told I still owe the money and annual fee, but my membership would be cancelled and I'd be sent to collections.
I apologize for the miscommunication and misunderstanding that has occurred. While we have ran a promotional sale in the past advertising that there is no annual fee, this customer has actually been paying annual fees since he started his membership back in 06/2017. However, we understand the situation and have canceled the membership. We have also removed this member from collections and have removed his entire past due balance.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I appreciate you taking care of this. I would suggest changing the cancellation policy. It is very difficult to cancel if you have moved out of state or if you have been traveling extensively for your job.
I received notification of my recent payment not going through because they*** used the wrong expiration date for card
I have been paying for a membership for years through automatic drafts. ABC fitness used the wrong expiration date on my card and I was advised I had to physically report to a facility to cancel. I went on the 7th and decided I would pay for a full year membership as opposed to having payments taken out. The employee advised that she would have to cancel my membership and start over with a new one which I paid. $215. Two days later they have taken out an additional 20.40 (10.99 plus a fee since the payment was not processed within 5 days of the due date (which she never advised) When I spoke with the GENERAL MANAGER he advised that the payment was due. Had I been advised of that, I would have paid the 20.40 and washed my hands of it. I would not have paid an additional 215.00. In addition to this, they scheduled me for a fitness assessment and when I arrived the guy was not there. I DID NOT GET TO COURTESY OF GETTING A CALL. There service is something to be desired. When I asked to have both memberships cancelled I was instructed to contact corporate office which is an AUTOMATED system. Most definitely not a customer centric organization. If I am stuck for another year with this membership I will defiantly advise everyone I know BUYER BEWARE
I would like a full refund for the NEW membership I purchased and I will take my business elsewhere
