Review: I went to Zahn's Automotive because it was recommended by a mutual friend to have my car inspected and repair work. My check engine light was on and I explained to the mechanic the codes I received and the noise my car was making. The mechanic test drove my car said he heard the noise and he could do the repair work Friday March 4,2016 at 8:00am. And the charge would be $550. The charge would be for the catalyc converter, tune up spark plugs, and right front strut. If I brought my own strut so I did and I dropped my car off at 8:00am received a call maybe four hours later saying the work was done and I could pick up my vehicle. So I went to the shop spoke to the mechanic went to the cashier and paid $550 receive a receipt while the mechanic was explaining to me that my check engine light would come on again because of my evaporation valve need changing but he didn't perform that task because it wasn't included in the $550 bill. I got a bad feeling once he explained this started thinking maybe he didn't really perform the work besides the right front strut because he gave me the old strut. So I got my car drove off and noticed the same noise car wasn't riding different at all. So I went back to the shop to speak with Woody the mechanic about the noise. He hopped in the car with me and we drove off went around the neighborhood and he swore he didn't hear the noise said I was tripping I'm like you really don't hear this noise??. He like no go back to the shop for the owner he hops in with us and claims he doesn't hear the noise either.. they began to laugh saying I'm tripping are something wrong with my ears and hearing. We get back to the shop the owner gets out Woody stays there while I asked my friend did he hear the noise? My friend replied yes I hear what that loud noise then Woody is like oh that noise? So he raises the hood look at different parts and responds that can be a lot of things. I explained to Woody I didn't feel as if he really repaired my car at all.. his response was I'm doneDesired Settlement: I would like to get my $550 back and for consumers to know that this Company Is In The Bureau There Not A Good Company The Rip People Of!

Review: My vehicle was towed by Zahn's Towing from a no-parking zone across from the US military base in Algiers in New Orleans on 6/25/13. According to the base police, Zahn's towing preys on this lot because they know it is likely military personnel parking there and they will have the money to get their cars out of the tow yard. There were about 30 other vehicles parked in this same area, but mine was the only one that was towed. The signs at the lot say the charge is $106.I am in the US Navy and had duty the entire day, so I was unable to leave my post until nearly 5pm. I called at 4:30 to let them know and was told they close at 5pm. When I arrived at 4:50, I was told by the woman at the desk that it was cash-only (bill was $137; she did not tell me this on the phone when I called). I told her I would go to the closest ATM and be right back, but I didn't make it back until 5:02pm. At that time the owner, [redacted] told me that there is a $45 charge because it was after 5pm and he would have to pay the woman over-time. $45 for two minutes of overtime is outrageous. I explained to him that I would be happy to give her the $45 directly since it would be her overtime, but he refused. I ended up paying $182. My wife tried to settle the issue with the woman, who claimed to be the manager, by calling the following day, but the woman would not listen and blamed their late fee on "state law." My wife has contacted New Orleans City Hall who denied any knowledge of a towing law and has also left a message for the District Attorney. This man is operating his business in an unethical manner by preying on military personnel outside of a military base, mis-posting the towing cost on the signs in the lot, not telling me that I would have to pay cash when I called, and then not telling me about a $45 late fee, especially when I was initially there just ten minutes before they closed.Desired Settlement: I would like a $45 refund for the "state law" late fee. [redacted] and the "manager" knew I would not arrive until close to 5pm because I had duty and withheld that they are cash-only so that I would have to leave and then come back and be charged the additional $45.
