Zach Lloyd Construction Reviews (1)

Review: In July of 2012, Zach Lloyd poured a concrete driveway for us. He did the job in one day, and was paid that day. Around November 2012, the top driveway started to pop up in the front to midway of the driveway, little circular spots about the size of a dime. In the summer and especially the fall of 2013, those spots of concrete started to pop out leaving areas of the driveway pock marked. After the winter of 2014 the front half of the driveway is completely pockmarked. The surface of the concrete is flaking off. I looked on the internet to see what the cause of this could be. It is called "scaling" or "spalling", it occurs when contractors add to much water to the mix, or over work the concrete, especially with a power screed. I first called Zach Lloyd in the beginning March of 2014, to advise him about the what was happening to the driveway. I got no answer from him at all. I called him several times a week, left messages, and got no return call from him. I called him from my place of work and he answered his phone, I explained to him what the driveway was doing and he said he would come over on April 5th, 2014, to look at it. He showed up 2 hours later than he said he would be at the house. We went out to look at the driveway, and he asked me if we use salt on our driveway, I stated no, it is only ever shoveled off. He then asked if the township uses salt on the roads I stated I was not sure if they did. He immediately said the damage was caused by the salt that the township trucks put down to de-ice the roads. I stated if that is the case then why were none of the other concrete driveways effected, on of which he installed a year prior to ours. He had no answer. I then told him that I researched it online and that it was scaling and spalling, and that it was from to much water added to the concrete as well as the concrete being over worked. He then said that he would return on April 28th 2014 to fix the driveway. That is the last time we have heard from or saw him. He will not call me back.Desired Settlement: The Dan-Ber concrete company representative came out to look at the driveway and took samples. His report states that the concrete was over worked and had to much water added to it. He said the best thing is to remove the concrete and re pour it. At no expense to me. 2 other concrete contractors stated the same thing. It is the only way to ensure that spalling/scaling will not continue to spread, which it already is. They also stated that it should be at no cost to me, it was installed incorrect
