Review: I called Yankee Doodle Stove & Fireplace in early September, 2013, explaining that the flew/damper in the chimney of the fireplace I bought from them had broken and needed to be fixed. They explained the company who made the fireplace (Temco) was no longer in business but agreed to send their repair man to look at it. Their man - I believe his name was [redacted] - came and confirmed damper was broken and said they could not get any replacement parts. After I checked online and confirmed there was no way to get a replacement, [redacted] returned to my house, removed the damper from the chimney and agreed to repair it, saying it would take a week or so. When I didn't hear back from him, I called Yankee Doodle (as that was the only number I had to reach him) and was told [redacted] only worked on Saturdays and they would leave him a message to come Saturday 21st to install the repaired damper. I received no call and no one came. When I returned from a trip, I called Yankee Doodle again on October 29th to explain I needed the damper installed. I asked that he come out on Saturday, November 2nd, as it was getting colder, heat was escaping through open chimney and I would be traveling after then. They said they would get in touch with [redacted] and have him call me to confirm these plans. Again, I heard nothing and for 3 days called daily, each time being told they would call [redacted] and give him my message. Finally on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, I called again and spoke with the owner, Sam, who said [redacted] did not work for them directly and only did installations on Saturdays. When I complained that no one had called me back, Sam said apparently I didn't understand that [redacted] was just doing me a favor by fixing the damper and that he'd not had time to fix it, then he told me not call again because I was becoming a pest and hung up on me. As of today, the damper has been with [redacted] for over 6 weeks.Desired Settlement: I simply want what I was promised: to have Yankee Doodle repair my damper and replace it in my chimney. I've always understood there would be a charge, and will pay bill upon completion of job, for reasonable charges, as there was never a discussion of doing this gratis as a 'favor'[redacted]
