I am the manager and the cake decorator for Yankee Doodle BakeryWe have been in business for over years and have a reputation in Oxnard for having some of the best cakes in Ventura CountyThis said, occasionally we encounter a customer that we are unable to satisfy regardless of our copious effortsA customer e-mailed me a picture of a cake she wanted for her baby showerHer mother paid for the cake and they sent the boyfriend to pick up the cakeThe decoration was not a traditional baby shower cake, it was a "southwestern theme"The customer and her mother were not pleased with the outcome of the cake and called to let me knowHaving been a pregnant woman, I know emotions can run high, and the last thing I wanted was a disappointed mother-to-beI offered right away to their cake if they could bring it back to meI stopped all my other work and took my time to the cake in a decoration deemed more appropriate for the occasionI then took a picture of the cake and e-mailed it to the mother and daughterThey gave the ok, that this was presentable for their occasionI also had the boyfriend sign our order form that this cake was acceptable and there would be no further complications or requests for refunds etcThe following day I received an email from the customer that all we had to do was apologize, but it was too late now and that she had reported us to the Revdex.comI think I handled this situation pretty well and am unsure if my service and response was lackingMaybe I could have just apologized, but I think I still would have needed to the cakeI hope that our reputation speaks for itself and we will continue our long-standing and positive relationship with the community.Thank You,Yankee Doodle Bakery

I am rejecting this response because:Yankee Doodle Bakery is blaming my current medical condition on their lack of cake decorating experienceThe manager and cake decorator seems to be well aware that they aren't competent enough to do specific cakesShe should have let me know that she does not posses the skills to decorate the cake I orderedI am extremely offended by her comment, " Having been a pregnant woman, I know emotions can run high, and the last thing I wanted was a disappointed mother-to-be." I was more than disappointed and not because I was pregnant, but because I paid for a cake that the business later stated was my fault for picking out such an ugly cakeI am now more upset over the fact that I feel like I'm being discriminated against due to my pregnancyRevdex.com can I open a second complaint over their derogatory comment? I've attached two pictures to help Revdex.com clearly see the cake I ordered and the cake that was initially deliveredAnd like I previously stated, I asked Yankee Doodle Bakery for delivery service since we had already driven to Oxnard twiceTheir time was paid for and it was them who had to fix their mistakesOn the other hand this bakery had no consideration for mine and my families time spent running back and forthSimply, awful service.

Review: Good Morning, I chose Yankee Doodle Bakery to prepare a baby shower cake for Saturday, March 7, 2015. I had been in contact with Heather via email. She assured me that Yankee Doodle was available and capable of providing the requested order. What I received that morning on March 7th was nothing like what I ordered. When I called to ask how they were going to resolve the issue, the woman working in the store front informed me that it was my fault I chose an ugly cake design. She said to send it back and they'll try and fix it. They prepared a completely different cake and offered no discount or appologies. I was appalled at their customer service and their request to ask us to sign the receipt stating that the issue was not their fault. A cake that was requested to be ready by 11 am was not completed or delivered to us. Instead we waited around at their convenience until 1 pm, which threw off the party. The cake was so hideous we did not want to present it. Their lack of accountability and unwillingness to compensate us with delivery or a discount is what has led me to Revdex.com to seek resolution.
