Yale-New Haven Hospital, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: Yale-New Haven Hospital Laboratory has not been returning my phone calls nor my wife's gynecologist office. There is a problem with the bill and the billing department won't help us out while we try to contact someone about a mistake with the coding and the fact that we are being charged in the mean time. It has been 3-4 months of constant calling and no answer. We have called, emailed, faxed, etc and no answer. My wife's doctors have numerous complaints about the same issue and yet our issue is still not solved. The individuals of [redacted] Health billing department have told us not to pay and now they don't return phone calls.Desired Settlement: I want either [redacted] to pay this red oculus bill or have Yale take back the bill and deal with it internally. The billing department at [redacted] Women's [redacted] td us not to pay and we haven't and now it is going to collection soon.

Review: Recently my wife had two biopsies performed at Yale New Haven Hospital. We recently received a bill that seemed to be suspiciously high so I requested an itemized bill from them to investigate further.Upon inspection of the itemized bill, it appeared that they were charging us roughly $1840.00 for the use of two disposable plastic medical pieces that cost the facility roughly $100.00 or $200 combined and yet they are attempting to charge us $1840 for these items. This is an upcharge of $1640.00 for something they paid $200.00 for. This item in question is known as the [redacted] and is manufactured by [redacted]. I obtained the price through [redacted] by accessing their website at [redacted].com and by calling them at [redacted] between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm EST. They are also attempting to charge us for another piece from [redacted] called the [redacted]. According to [redacted], these items have a list price of $300.00 (at the most). YNHH used two of these pieces during the procedure and now they are charging us $2855.00 for these pieces which is an upcharge of $2255.00.According to the itemized bill, these charges are only for the actual medical devices themselves, as they are charging us separately for each surgery at a rate of $2752.00. I believe it is extortion for YNHH to be charging their clients roughly 5 - 9X as much for medical equipment compared to what they have paid for these items. Again, they are attempting to collect $4719.00 for four pieces of disposable medical equipment they paid a total of $800.00 for. I can understand a small upcharge to cover shipping and handling, but charging us 6X what they've paid for these pieces is inexcusable.I would like to also mention that these costs were never discussed up front with my wife or I before the procedure. I can provide any documents you need to support our claim. I am filing this claim not only for myself but for all clients of Yale New Haven Hospital.Desired Settlement: I would like a drastic reduction in cost for these disposable medical pieces that were used for these procedures. I believe they have the right to charge us as much as 2X the amount of what they paid, but any more than that is obscene, in my opinion.
