I recently visited Xpert Computer Service & Repair in***, NC to replace a broken iPhone screenThe store had good reviews and offered a "100% guarantee on all work" and a "full day no hassle warranty on all repairs," so I decided to give them a shotThe job itself was fast but when I picked up my phone a few hours later from the store, I noticed right away that the touch screen wasn't working as well as it previously hadI decided to give it some time to see if the issue fixed itself before asking for a replacement or a refundA couple weeks later, the screen still was not working properly so I called the business to ask for a refundI do not live in***, so I asked them what sort of options we hadThe gentleman on the phone, ***, said I could either drive to***, which would be a 5-hour drive round trip, or I could mail him my entire phone and he would fix itI definitely was not comfortable with the latter because, with shipping and insurance,

I took my computer to Xpert Computer Service and Repair on September 1st, 2015. They told me the motherboard and the videocard needed to be replaced and it would cost $195 plus $35 diagnostic fee. They told me the diagnoistic fee would not be substracted from the cost of repair, although the damage was obvious at first look, when you open the computer.They told me, that I needed to leave my computer there and it would take 7-10 until they receive the parts.I paid the diagnostics fee and said that I would think about it.I took my computer to a different computer repair service which did not charge diagnostic fee. They told me, that they did not need to replace the motherboard, but just replace the leeking bolts on the motherboard.They also told me I did not need an additional videocard, because there was already a built-in videocard. So they did not charge me for any parts, but just for the labor and I had my computer repaired the same day for less than a third, what Xpert Computers wanted me to pay.It is obvious that Xpert Computer were trying to cheat me and get me to pay for parts and labor, which I did not need for my computer to work.That is why I am requesting the refund of the fee in the amount of $35.Please refund the amount of $35 to my credit card.Product_Or_Service: Computer repair+Desired SettlementRefund of $35.Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted]Contact Phone:[redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]Hi [redacted], a simple call to us would have answered these questions. The capacitors (not bolts) were blown on your motherboard. Yes some people will attempt to replace those to fix. We replace the whole board in case the damaged caused any other failures in the motherboard. We recommended that we replace your video card that you had in there because it was burnt out. Yes your motherboard had a built in video card but it was inferior to the add-on card that you had. We would never quote a repair that was inferior to what was originally in the computer. Please come by anytime and we would be happy to offer you a refund on your diagnostics.
