Good day, In regards to this instance and all gift card sales, when a client comes in to purchase a gift card we take the following information: name of purchaser, name of gift card recipient, amount of gift cardWith every guest we make a point to inform them that the gift card expires years from date of purchaseSince they manually enter this information they are prompted to convey this message every time to all guestsThis particular guest had the gift card for over years which was not usedWhen his wife came in to redeem the gift card we informed her that it had in fact expired and that our system physically cannot retrieve the fundsThe spa website does not have the capability to update gift card informationI called the guest and apologized profusely for the inconvenienceI explained that we are not permitted or able in the system to accept expired gift cardsHe then said he understood but was disappointedI did try to rectify this situation with the guest but I was not able to accept the expired gift card.Sent on: 2/11/1:40:PM

When his wife came in to redeem the gift card we informed her that it had in fact expired and that our system physically cannot retrieve the funds. The spa website does not have the capability to update gift card information. I called the guest and apologized profusely for the inconvenience. I explained that we are not permitted or able in the system to accept expired gift cards. He then said he understood but was disappointed.
