The bonus was a thank you from the ecommerce site for making a qualifying purchase and at NO time is there a bill for the magazine and it will not automatically renew. This is Marti S[redacted], President of Strategic Media, LLC. I just left a detailed voice message for [redacted] as well as an email. We cancelled her subscriptions in 2016 (InStyle and US Weekly) that were included as a bonus with a purchase at no cost. We had our system enter her as a Do Not Promote but apparently the system only processed the Do Not Promote for InStyle and Us Weekly (so that if she ever qualified for those titles again from that program they would automatically be cancelled). However our system was not able (we have just learned) to do the Do Not Promote for all magazines that are in that program beyond InStyle and UsWeekly. That's why she got a new subscription to People this April 2017 after making another qualifying purchase on the same site.So we have cancelled [redacted]'s People Magazine subscription. And we are working to amend our internal systems so that we will be able to ensure the Do Not Promote is for any title going forward for that program. Thank you.

We attempted to reach the Complainant via phone today but no one answered so we left a detailed message explaining exactly how the subscription was received. Sports Illustrated was included as a bonus after making a purchase from a sports-related site as bonus from the ecommerce site....
There was an opt-out on the cart page for the free bonus but apparently the Complainant did not see it. At no time did we get his email or credit card info. There were NO charges and we have cancelled the subscription and removed him from our database. Thank you.
