Review: In June (6/10/13), we had a heat/AC pump put in on an existing unit. Vertex came out and wrote up an estimate to add the unit to our existing furnace so that the heat pun would run when it was 30 degrees or warmer outside and the oil furnace would run when it was colder than 30 degrees. We were told that the unit was a mid range unit and that all workmanship would be above standards. Because we were not looking to replace our furnace, we chose to go with Vertex Mechanical. During installation, the installers drilled hole for tubing to outside unit was too low and came through bathroom wall. (never told us about it) After the first few days, we noticed there was no air flow out of vents in house. (6/11/13)

After a week, we noticed leaking unit outside--excessive water on the patio from outside unit. They filled up the unit with freon after heating up the unit because the line was frozen. (6/24/13) Again in July, the system was not cooling and it was 80 degrees in the house, running constantly. In September, we had furnace serviced by another company (we had a service contract with them from the previous year) The company told us they refuse to continue the service contract due to work done by Vertex. It was at this time, the serviceman/owner of the company informed us that the tray needed to be moved because it was installed too low and would eventually melt. Vertex had to come back out to move the plastic tray off of the unit. After cleaning the filter, we noticed it was burning in the center. We noticed it was rubbing against the unit. Vertex had nothing holding the filter, therefore it was sucked into the blower. Vertex came and created a filter bracket. The filter must now be bent to get it into unit. On 10/28/13, unit was not turning off and had to turn it off with breaker. Unit just kept running. Wiring to the indoor and outdoor unit had to be changed, the relay on the fan control was bad, thermostat on unit was bad, and had electrical issues. Vertex came out. On 11/20/13, The belt was squealing every time the furnace kicked on--told to spray the belt with cooking spray to get rid of the noise. We purchased belt dressing and tried that. It did not work. Vertex came out. Pulleys were not lined up and wore pulley to razor thin edge. Vertex pointed out the pulley was worn thin. They replaced the belt that was worn from the pulley, but did not replace the pulley. They proceeded to charge us for a new belt when they didn't have the pulleys lined up correctly in the first place. Noise of metal rubbing--video recording of the noise. Vertex told us it is the best it will get. Our options would be to replace the furnace or live with the noise, therefore we scheduled companies to give us prices on furnaces. On the third estimate, the serviceman told us within 5 minutes of looking at the furnace, he could fix the furnace noises or the service call would be free. He did. He replaced the belts that Vertex replaced and charged us $9, where Vertex charged us $35. He also could not close up the furnace because the wiring that Vertex put in is such an electrical mess, he did not want to mess it up. He also told us Vertex should be coming back to fix the wiring.--Pictures of wiring attached. He lined up the pulley correctly, replaced the belt, and cleaned the blower--which had not been cleaned by Vertex. Vertex claimed was cleaned. Vertex claimed to have switched the bearings, and the serviceman showed us none of the items had been changed out. We kept all the old parts as evidence. Vertex sent us a bill for $329 for not fixing our furnace. We are refusing to pay it and want them to fix the wiring mess they created. We also have a new bill from the serviceman who ended up fixing the unit. He is charging us for the service call and the price of parts which is significantly lower than Vertex. When asked for a record of service dates (11/27/13), we had to call and ask again. In the record, services were omitted and not recorded, such as when they had to move the tray above the furnace. We have pictures, video, phone records, and parts that were removed and replaced to verify the validity of our complaint.Desired Settlement: We have been charged $326.19 for repairs that did not remedy the situation. It was only when we contracted another service company that we were able to have a bit of closure to the noises. We have also been given workmanship that was sub par. We would like to have the company rescind the charges, pay for repairs made to the unit by the other company (significantly lower than the charges they have charged us), and work corrected and completed by the other company. We would like someone from a neutral company designated by the Revdex.com to come out and inspect the work that has been done to assess what our next step will be. Work in question includes wiring, filter brackets, unit and credit for damage to our bathroom wall.

Review: Vertex installed our hot water heater 5 years ago. It broke and was still under warranty. We went through them, understanding that we would need to pay for labor. However, they did not tell us until after the fact that 3 hours of labor was $600 (including a $90 dispatch fee). the work was not performed on a weekend, evening or holiday but normal business day. When we questioned why they were basically $175 an hour when others were charging $75, they said that's our price. We thought we had to go through them for the warranty. My fear is that they could knowingly install shoddy water heaters that would be covered by warranting and milk customers for the installation fees at a greatly inflated price. That is not the going rate for that service around here at all. We would have called around if we didn't think it was necessary to go through them.Desired Settlement: I believe we should only pay $75 an hour - plus the dispatch fee. One man was there three hours, so we are willing to pay $315.
