I signed the lease for an apartment guaranteed to be livable, when I got there the place was infested with fleas, the rooms reeked of dog urine to the point that I could not spend more than an hour in it without becoming nauseous, and the pipes were so backed up that sewage came out of the bathtub drain and the sink. I even got a STAFF infection from cleaning up the sewage and had to go to the hospital for care. For both of these concerns, I spoke to the landlord and he responded with belittling words and complacency.
