It is the responsibility of legally licensed drivers to understand the
laws and hazards of the roads in the state in which they operate their
vehicles. Today, there are no laws in
the State of North Dakota or Minnesota regulating the...
removal of snow and ice
from vehicles prior to entering public roadways.
This incident is considered an act of nature by the insurance industry,
the transportation industry, lawmakers and law enforcement. It is unfortunate that the claimant was either
under insured or uninsured for the conditions in which they were
operating.
We encourage the complainant to reassess their insurance coverage and
urge them to contact their state legislator(s) with their concerns. Until North Dakota and Minnesota enact laws
to regulate the removal of snow and ice from vehicles before entering public
roads, the facilities needed to safely remove snow from large trucks and
trailers will not be built. Today, major
truck stops, in areas of North Dakota serviced by Valley Cartage, have no such
facilities and provide no such service.

very seriously. In fact, in August of 2013 Valley Cartage was recognized by the
