Vagabond Shoes, Inc. Reviews (4)

On 9-28-2015 I went to Vagabond shoes, [redacted] to make a purchase of a pair of Keen brand shoes that I badly needed for work. They did not have them in stock. The sales associate called the store in Appleton WI and found out they had a pair in stock. I paid for the shoes that evening and the employee told me the owner of the store (Kathleen [redacted]) would bring the shoes to the store the next business day. I told them I would be in to pick them up after work.
I am presently commuting to work to learn a new job, I am also in school earning my Master's Degree and have a busy schedule.
The next day I went to the store, and the employee knew nothing about the shoes. No communication was made, she called the owner, and the owner seemed to know nothing of the situation, and the shoes were no where to be found. I was in a rush to get home to do homework after work, and my feet were terribly sore (needing the new shoes). She told me she would have the owner call me. I was very upset because of the lack of communication done by the owner. I also felt like the employee didn't want to take ownership as a business of the mistake. I did not hide my irritation, exclaiming that this was very much an inconvenience to me because of my schedule.
The next day the owner called me and acted like nothing happened. Again I sensed them not taking responsibility for their actions. (She called me from the Appleton store), Asking me if I wanted her to have them shipped to me. I said no, I would pick them up in Green Bay. I called the store to give them a heads up that I would be in to get them. At this point I thought they would be aware of the situation since I was already inconvenienced by the owners mistake. I thought for sure she would have communicated to them by now. Again! They knew nothing!
I told them I would be in again later (after work) and hopefully, by then they would locate them. At one point the employee yelled at me over the phone, screaming "I am with a customer right now!" She was very rude and unconcerned with the situation that had already gotten out of control.
I was unaware that my husband in the meantime called the store to tell them he would be in to pick up the shoes. When I got to the store, the same employee was working. She said to me: "your husband is coming to get your shoes!" I said, no I am getting them, now. Then before she got them for me, she started to analyze me, telling me I needed hugs, and telling me that upset her co-worker the day before, asking me what was wrong,,,,. I was shocked by her weird behavior! How could she ask me what was wrong? I told her, she shouldn't be asking me this, and telling me that I upset the employee, I reminded her that I was the customer and that I was inconvenienced and she seemed more concerned with her co-worker than the poor experience I was having. Her comments to me were very inappropriate. She wouldn't stop commenting on my state of mind, and telling me I needed hugs. I left the store super angry, but finally with my shoes.
At this time I never received an apology from the owner, or any employee for that matter... or any offer of compensation for the inadequate service. Instead, I discovered that the owner of the store was researching me on the Internet. I found this to be very unprofessional and upsetting.
I in turn looked her up and instant messaged her telling her I did not appreciate her looking me up. I also said that if she had the time to do that, she should have taken the time to contact me and apologize. I told her to use good judgement and leave me alone. I also told her I would contact the Consumer Protection Agency if she bothered me any more.
That message was sent to her on Sunday 10-4-15 at 8:41 pm. Unfortunately, The owner Kathleen [redacted] called my husband without me knowing, at work on Monday 10-5-15 to tell him that I wasn't allowed in her store...because I upset her employees.
I feel that her contacting my husband without my knowing is a breech of my privacy. She had no right to bring him into my affairs and bother him at work. He is an accountant, and was in the middle of doing month end and was upset over her calling him. She also caused unnecessary tension between my husband and I. This behavior displayed by her to a customer who patronized her business and was actually a very loyal customer is very unethical. I fear that she will continue to invade my privacy since she had displayed this retaliatory behavior. I work in the same town and do not want any interference from her professionally or privately.

Review: Vagabond Shoes, Fox Falley Birkenstock & Shoepeddlers.com are the same company. All three businesses are owned by [redacted], 2476 S. Oneida St., Ste. 130, Green Bay, WI 54304, [redacted]. I purchased a pair of shoes from shoepeddlers.com; the shoes were a mismarked size, so I returned them. on April 3, 2013, I received a confirmation email from shoepeddlers that my shoes were succesfully returned (I can provide the email message if necessary). The email included a credit redemption code (a store credit was issued), [redacted], for $59.99. For the past few weeks, when accessing shoepeddlers.com, the URL directs me to [redacted] other business of Fox Valley Birkenstock. When accessing the store to redeem my credit, I received an error message indicating my credit code was incorrect. I have sent several email messages via the support page on the website and have not received a response. Today, I called the store and asked to speak with the owner. The store manager, [redacted], was elusive when anwering my questions. First she said that she never heard of the business, shoepeddlers.com, and that the businesses were not tied together or did not merge (as I had originally suspected). I told her that couldn't be true because when you type the URL, shoepeddlers.com, it immediately directs you to Fox Valley Birkenstock. Furthermore, there is a tab within Fox Valley Birkenstock's that reads "shoepedders.com." She said it was common for online businesses to do this, but Fox Valley had no association with shoepeddlers.com. [redacted] would not give me the owner's name. So, I asked [redacted] to let the owner know I called and asked her/him to call me back. After my phone call with [redacted], I researched the business information online and learned that [redacted] was indeed the owner of shoepeddlers.com, Fox Falley Birkenstock and Vagabond Shoes. Once I knew this, I call back and again spoke with [redacted]. I said "May I speak with [redacted]? She's the owner of the business, correct?" [redacted] answered "Yes she is, but she's not in right now. May I take a message?". I then told [redacted] that I was the same person that call earlier and to please let [redacted] know to call me. I have not received a response. Also, you may find it of interest to know that there are several complaints online about these three businesses and the owner, [redacted].

Regards,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I am seeking the money that is owed to me in form of a credit on my credit card (as I originally payed for the shoe purchase). Thank you in advance for assisting me with this matter. Feel free to contact me should you need any of the documentation.

DO NOT SHOP at Fox Valley Birkenstock at their Appleton, WI store. They used to have an online website. They closed that business last spring 2013. Guess what? I ordered a pair of shoes in March 2013 and returned them in April. I received a credit on May 7, 2013. The credit was valid thru May 7, 2014. Guess what I called to use the credit. AND I CANNOT even use the credit thru their store. The woman was rude, and didn't even care that I would be down $90. She kept saying that the online store was different than the actual store. I don't care. You give someone a credit - you should be able to honor it. Or you should at least inform online customers that your site would be closing so you can use the credit. If this woman can't run an online store - I'm sure she sucks at actually running a real store. DON'T SHOP AT FOX VALLEY BIRKENSTOCK!!!

Non-existent customer service, rude, allowed shoes to be returned, but did not reimburse me for the return! Failed to provide a receipt and owner refuses to recognize the credit due!
