Review: truck nation school closed campus in sac w/out notice to student and or refund of fees.

moved 80 mile one dir again w\out notice. not show for dmv.

about 6 months ago I signed up for a truck drive school located in Sacramento witch is located near my home. all was fine until on May 27 I went to the school that was located in Sacramento only to see that the fence was locked and no one in sight and no notice as to why the gate was locked. I called the main office and the person that answered the phone stated that the company has move the school to Salidus this is 80 miles away. round trip this would be 160 mile. I called instructor who promised to meet me on Sunday June 2 to practice driving. he advise me to call in the morning of June 2 to confirm and set a time. I call and left several messages for him to call me back. He did not return my call until the day I was to go for my driving test June 5, 2013. the instructor stated that this was canceled and he would not be there, this was two hours before I was to take the test. stating that this was due to my needing more experience. I explained that I have taken the day off without pay to take this test and he need to be there. I then called the office and talked to a female person she did not give her name she stated that she did not see that the driving test was canceled so I went to DMV in west Sacramento no one show with a truck for me to take the test. I again call the school and was again told that the appointment was still not cancel. she stated that she would talk to the instructor and if so she will reschedule and call me back. no one called so I again call the main office. The person stated that the appointment was not cancel and again I explained that one

showed. I requested a refund due to they did not complete their part of the contact. she stated that she will call me back. no return call, I have tried several time to contact their office and no one answers the phone. Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of all fees that have been paid. This is to include school fees, book costs, and medical tests required by the school.

Business' Initial Response

Mr.[redacted] was informed of our school closing down 45 days prior to the date it was closed. Mr.[redacted] asked us to make him an appointment by July 1st 2013, we were able to get him a DMV appointment on June 27th @ 3pm. Mr. [redacted] refused the appointment. Mr.[redacted] was fully trained, and he refused his DMV appointment. At this time the student is not willing to cooperate nor is he willing to negotiate. He was fully trained so no money is owed back to him, per our contract.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

the business did not propose a resolution. I paid for a service to be provided in Sacramento that service was not provided, and is not available in Sacramento. The business did not show for DMV appointments and did not give advance notice that they would not show for said appointment. They say that I have been fully trained however I have not been provided a truck to take the driving test. They say that they make the appointment with DMV but if they don't show for the appointment what is the point. I would not advise that any person wanting to get a completed course go to truck nation school.

Business' Final Response

what mr. [redacted] is saying is not true. I myself schedule the appointments and scheduled all my sacramento students in the modesto dmv, I had scheduled mr. [redacted] rescheduled appointment for the following week it was originally scheduled for. it was like a 5 business day difference between the two. he was notified like the rest of our students but when we told him of the appointment change he verbally assaulted my staff and threatened a lawsuit, not once did he say anything about the Revdex.com, nor had I received his complaint from you guys. like I said I can send you all his schedule and can prove we had taken him to the dmv more than 1 time. he does not want to accept the fact that his was fully trained and was not qualified for any money back.

Review: I paid in advance for truck driving training, to get the discount price, but never enrolled and haven't been able to get my money back.

On June 7, 2013 my wife and I met with a lady named [redacted] at Truck Nation School located at 4800 Elm Street in Salida, CA, to discuss my interest in enrolling in one of their truck driving training programs. I explained to her that I had some things to take care of before I could start and wanted to know when their classes started up. She said that wasn't a problem that I could start anytime but that they had a special going on right then, which was a big discount, but I had to pay for the whole thing all at once and I had to pay right then, in order to get the discounted price. She also let me know there were some additional fees not included in that special which were the DMV fees, the DOT physical which I could get done on my own and a drug test which I had to have done through them and it costs $90. So, on that day, June 7, 2013 I paid in advance for the program I was going to enroll in and for the drug test I was going to take for a grand total of $1,578.00 which I paid in cash and was given a receipt and its number was XXXXXX. Then due to the other things that had to be taken care of before I could start I realized I wasn't sure exactly when I was going to be able to start the program and that I needed the money that I gave to Truck Nation and then later on when I was able I would pay for the program when I was going to actually start. On June 19, 2013 my wife and I went back to the office in Salida and explained our situation and asked for our money back and we were told that they don't keep that kind of money there in the office and that we had to talk to [redacted] since she was the one we gave our money to and that we could call her the next day, which we did, and she explained that there is a process in order to get our money back and that the process could take up to a week. She said that we had to send a letter requesting our money back and mail it to the cancellation department, at P.O. Box 1032, in Salida, CA. So we did and it has been over a month now since we have asked for our money back and all we seem to get is the runaround. There is supposively no phone number for the cancellation department and since nobody that answers the phones works for that department they don't know what to tell me except that I just have to wait. This past week I have been dealing with a lady named [redacted] I think her name is and she says that she communicates with the cancellation department through email, but she can't give me the email address, so I have to go through her and she just says that my refund is being processed and that she doesn't have any idea when or if I am going to get my money back. I have the receipt and a copy of the letter I sent to them requesting my money back.Desired Settlement: I just want back what I gave them, which is $1,578.00 in one lump sum and in cash, not in installments and not a check and I would like to pick it up from the office in which I gave my money to.

we would like to report to the Revdex.com. This case was paid and settled in full on August 26th.

Consumer's Final Response

Requested copies of contracts etc: "The only thing they gave me a copy of was the receipt for the cash that I gave to them. I made a copy of the letter that I wrote to them requesting my money back. But that's all that I have. I found out about the company by doing a google search for truck driving training programs in my area. I then called them as well as a few other places to inquire about their programs and prices. They gave me the cheapest quote because of a special they were running."

Review: My refund was not returned.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to continue with my enrollment with the Truck Nation School. Therefore, I requested a refund of $450. I faxed over my request as I was instructed. I received a letter (no contact name was provided) stating that I could not receive a refund because the facility, equipment and supplies fees were none refundable. I am entitled to the entire refund as I did not attend any classes, use the facility or equipment and I did not receive any books or materials, nor did I take a drug test or physical exam. I chose to defer enrollment into the program until I was able to pay the tuition in advance of my enrollment. My contact at Truck Nation School was [redacted] He informed me that I would not be charged a registration fee until I started the class. Since I did not start the class, I believe I am entitled to a full refund. [redacted] is no longer with the company.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $400 since I did not enroll into the program nor do the fees apply to me.

Mr. [redacted] cancelled outside of the 6 months stated in the contract. He is not entitled to any refund.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I do not accept the response from Truck Nation School as my contract clearly does not state a time period as to when I can request a refund. Per my contact "The student has a right to cancel this agreement, without further obligation, and obtain a refund of all amounts paid". The contract further states, "A student has the right to withdraw from this program of instruction at any time, and receive a refund of tuition. The Truck Nation Refund Policy states, "The student has the right to a refund upon cancellation. The amount to be refunded is determined by the amount of time student has clocked in training. Upon cancellation the amount will be calculated at $85 hour trained". No where in the contract does it mention that I have 6 months to request a refund. The contract does say that I have 6 months to complete the course. I never enrolled in the course, nor did I receive any class material and I did not attend any training classes. Since I never attended any training classes "clocked training" should not be deducted from my refund.

Review: I enrolled @ Truck Nation School 6901 McComber St. Sacramento with Israel Rivera. At the time I was unemployed and went to the facility to watch a dvd that did not work well for about 2 hours . I never returned because I was offered employment and could not attend during the schools hours. My position was only available until July of 2013. Which is when I would then return to Truck Nation to finish my program. I was told it was no problem to do this and there were no additional fees to worry about.Unfortunately I had been laid off and injured my left arm in that job. So even when I was laid off, I could not attend due to my injury. On 7/30/2013 I attempted to call Sacramento Truck Nation to inform them of my plans to attend when my injured arm healed. I could not reach anyone so I called [redacted] Truck Nation location and spoke with [redacted]. [redacted] informed me that Sacramento Truck Nation location had closed and my option was to go to [redacted].I can not afford money or time to drive to [redacted] for instruction or testing from Sacramento. I am sure you would agree this is unreasonable. So I am writing this letter to ask for a pro-rated refund. I feel this is fair considering I was never given information the Sacramento location was closing. I had been contacted in early 2013 by staff asking about scheduling some time to attend. I informed them about my current job (where I eventually was injured)and they understood I would be back, but again I was never told the Sacramento location was closing. Most of the time when I call I can never talk to the refund dept or someone else in charge. I am continuously told someone will contact me. I've received one response offering instruction at their closest facility in Modesto or [redacted]. Both are way too far from Sacramento in gas and time. I was never given a reason why I could not receive my refund even according to their contract I should be able to.Desired Settlement: The contract says that they will refund money at a prorated amount of $85 per hour of instruction. I received 2 hours of instruction and would like my money minus the 2 hours @ $85 for the dvd I watched. Balance of $1430.

Response:

Mr. [redacted],

After review of your account we found that there is no Refund Due. Our records indicate that you signed a contract on 09/05/12 and are considered an enrolled student for 51 weeks. We do drop students who no show or do not make any contact with the school after 6 months of enrollment. We received a written notice stating that you wished to cancel your agreement with Truck Nation School on 08/27/13. We consider you a DROPPED Student after 6 months of non-activity or nonattendnace. We can offer you the option of attending one of our other schools. We have a school in Salida CA, or Fresno CA, or San Jose CA. We can offer you a stipend of $200 towards fuel for your transportation to these locations. We did try to contact you to notify you of the closing of the Sacramento Location. We regrettably were unable to make contact with you. We did send out Letters to all students who were unattainable. These letters were mailed out 3 months prior to our school closing. No letters were returned to us from the post office at any time, so we assumed you received the notification. We must point out that it is the student's responsibility to notify us of any address or phone number change. This is so we are able to contact students and better serve them. We understand the economy and its strain on our students as this issue is affecting our business as well. We will consider this account closed with no Balance Owed. We are sorry you were not able to proceed in obtaining your license. If you have any questions, please contact us by writing to: [redacted], Attention: Cancellations Department
