Tutoring for Success Inc Reviews (1)

Review: I searched the web looking for a tutor for my student. Tutoring for Success (TFS) came up. I went to their website and filled out the appropriate info and [redacted] contacted me. Her job was to take down as little info as possible and get the credit card for payment--perfect tutor to be decided later! And hound she did. I told her I was looking at a few places and waiting for others to call me. She called me back less than 2 days later -- and pushed til she got the credit card. I then was sent a standard contract to sign before billing me. I was also told the name of the tutor, but at NO time was the tutor's fee stated to me. The tutor contacted me immediately after the contract email was sent to me. I asked him when scheduling a time, what his hourly rate was. He said he does not get into that; I would have to talk to TFS. So I said something to [redacted] about the rate and this is when rude and controlling, [redacted], comes in to stand firm on the payment! The tutor shows up (I still have not signed the contract), and he stays for less than an hour. He turns his time in as an hour. Interestingly, the website says tutors can set their own schedule and hourly rate (pimps)! Automatically, I recieved a bill from TFS (still no signed contract). The tutor indicated in his email that my primary need was "not one of my strong sciences"! Not a great match--but my student is getting a tutor! When I question my bill, [redacted] tells me that she will work with me "on the condition that I never have to here from you again." Really? This is the way to run a business? All her people are are cash hounds. They nor she care about the student! No one ever spoke with my student to make an assessment beforehand. I have all the supporting documentation; too bad I cannot upload here.Desired Settlement: 1. I do not wish to pay for the tutor nor the $50 account set up fee. What a racket! The tutor was a geographical match, not an academic match, and he said so hi**elf! Do I think he should get paid for coming to my house? Yes, but TFS should do the work up front to ensure a fit for the student they never met! And TFS should pay the tutor the one visit.2. TFS proudly displays their A+ rating on their website. Please downgrade them to a rating like F which reflects their customer service!

Response:

This client was told the tutor's rate on two occasions and willingly gave her credit card. She was also told there would be a $50 setup fee. She then sent a nasty email complaining that the fee was too high. Surprisingly, she set up a tutor meeting anyway. Afterwards, she called me and was verbally abusive. I told her I would refund her for the tutoring session on the condition that I never hear from her again. We do not put up with verbal abuse. I did refund her for the tutoring session and paid the tutor, who is qualified and has been successfully helping other students. We would have replaced the tutor for her, but she only wanted a refund. She is now disputing the charge that she was already refunded.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: [redacted] is making totally false statements. I was never TOLD the rate. I was called three times by Tutoring for Success before I gave my credit card, but that is the game. Hustle and scrounge for the credit card because in the owner's arrogance, she had stated that she wins every credit card protest. (BTW, the website says she takes checks or credit cards. I wonder how many checks she has taken from anyone in the past year.) I was not verbally abusive -- she was. I stated my position. If the owner cannot handle it because of her background and personality, she should not be in business. ([redacted] is not an educator by trade anyway.) The girl who called me automatically turned it over to the owner as soon as I started to question the rate and the tutor match. [redacted] is running a pimp organization, not a tutoring organization. And at the end of the day, the student who needed the tutor was never a part of the screening or matching process NOR are they allowed to be. This business is not a business but a hustle-for-cash gig: professional pimping at its finest. As a service organization, I am completely shocked that mediocrity is her standard. [redacted] is lying -- she does not know what I was told and what I was not told. Period. I don't see phone logs and transcripts that prove I was told twice!! (Interestingly, I am the only who provided any documentation, and [redacted]'s arrogance does not permit her to be objective.) I did not even look at the contract when it was sent to me -- because I asked the tutor what his rate was and he directed me back to the company. I also told the tutor straight up that I was looking at other tutors. Does a consumer not have any rights? Apparently not according to [redacted].

If the Revdex.com has any further questions, I will be more than happy to answer them WITH supporting documentation, none of which was provided by [redacted]!

Regards,

Response to client's comments (each in quotes and italics)

"I was never TOLD the rate."

She was told the hourly rate as well as the $50 administrative fee the day she signed up, and then she gave her credit card number. She was then sent a client agreement (see attachment Client Agreement.[redacted].pdf) and charged the $50 administrative fee. On Dec. 24th she sent us an e-mail complaining about the price (see attachment [redacted] rate.htm). I responded to her complaint (Attachment [redacted] rate response.htm). Even after this complaint, she made an appointment with the tutor and they met on Dec. 26th (see attachment Tutor Invoice [redacted] Dec 13 [redacted].xls). On Dec. 30th we sent her a statement and tutor invoice. (see Attachment [redacted].pdt). On Dec. 31st she left us a voice message complaining that she was not authorizing our company to charge her credit card because she was never told the price. I called her back and told her hat we did tell tell her the price, but she was talking over me and was verbally abusive. So I told her I would credit the hour and did (see Attachment Scan0024). Then I received another e-mail requesting that we also refund the $50 administrative fee, which I refused to do. (See Attachment [redacted] refusal to pay.htm) (In her original complaint, she is contesting $127, even though she actually only paid $50.)

"If the owner cannot handle it because of her background and personality, she should not be in business."

I assume that "it" refers to her verbal abuse. Rather than get involved in a battle of yelling at each other, I offered her a credit and hung up. We do not tolerate verbal abuse.

"**. [redacted] is not an educator by trade anyway."

Actually, I have a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from [redacted] University and a teaching background.

"The girl who called me automatically turned it over to the owner as soon as I started to question the rate and the tutor match."

The "girl" is my assistant and actually a woman. The only time I heard about **. [redacted] questioning our rate was in the attached email and phone message saying that she is not authorizing us to charge her credit card. I never heard her complain about her tutor match until now.

"**. [redacted] is running a pimp organization, not a tutoring organization."

There is no evidence of that. Referring to us as a pimp organization is a small sample of her verbal abuse. What she threw at us was far worse.

"And at the end of the day, the student who needed the tutor was never a part of the screening or matching process NOR are they allowed to be."

This is not true. We sent a qualified and appropriate tutor who has successfully helped many of our students. We even told **. [redacted] the background of the tutor before he contacted her, as is our policy.

"I do not see phone logs and transcripts that prove I was told [the rate] twice!"

Attachment [redacted] rate.htm proves that **. [redacted] received the contract with the rate before scheduling her appointment with the tutor.

"I did not even look at the contract when it was sent to me - "

The contract supplied the rate. It is her responsibility to read it. Since she claimed to not have looked at the the contract, the only way she could have known the rate is that she was told.

"because I asked the tutor what his rate was and he directed me back to the company."

Tutors direct clients back to the company when clients ask the rate because the tutor rate is different from the client rate.

In summary, **. [redacted]'s complaints are completely unfounded. We told her the tutor background and rates in advance of her appointment with him. After the tutoring was completed, she refused to pay even though we sent her a qualified tutor who met with her and her child. He sent us an invoice and we paid him. Because of our satisfaction guarantee, we did not charge **. [redacted] for the hour of tutoring that took place. We only charged her the original $50 administrative set-up fee, which which non refundable.
