August 9, 2016Dear *** ***,Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Complaint ID #*** (***).Talen Energy Marketing, LLC (Talen Energy") is participating in the Pennsauken Community Aggregation program, as approved by the Pennsauken TownshipAs part of the program, we offer
residential Customers in New Jersey the opportunity to pay a reduced price for electricity Supply through an opt-out program using a process as prescribed by New Jersey laws and regulations and approved by the Pennsauken Township Council.As part of this process, we received a list of eligible customers from ***, the customer's utilityWe mailed in early April to customers on the list a notification mailing using Content approved by Pennsauken Township and in compliance with New Jersey laws and regulationsThe letter included information about the programIt Communicated several ways for a customer to opt-out of the program, including returning a response form, visiting a Web site and entering information, or calling a toll-free phone numberIn compliance with New Jersey laws and regulations, We allowed customers days to respond and opt-out of the programA copy of the information package is included with this responseThe letter was mailed to the attention of *** *** on *** ** in Pennsauken.On May 23, 2016, after the day response window, we received a call from *** *** *** stated that she did not want to be enrolled with the programOur Customer Care Representative attempted to remove *** *** from the program; however *** *** did not share adequate detail to process the removal.On August 2, 2016, we received a notification through ***, the Customer's utility, that the *** household would be dropped from the programOn that same day, *** *** called our Customer Care Center demanding to be removed from the programThe Customer Care Representative attempted to explain that the drop request is in progress and would become effective on the next available meter read date in accordance with state-approved processes implemented by ***, which can take 1-monthsWe do not believe that *** *** understood this as she yelled obscenities at the Customer Care Representative during the call and hung up.When I received a copy of your letter, I verified the information aboveI also confirmed that the *** household will no longer be served by Talen Energy effective September 15, 2016.In accordance with state-approved processes, there is not a means to accelerate the customer's switch sooner.In summary: • The energy aggregation program was approved by Pennsauken Township. • Talen Energy is administering the program in Compliance with state laws and regulations and as approved by Pennsauken Township. • Talen Energy is currently charging the *** household a price lower than what they would have paid if they were not participating in the energy aggregation program. • The customer is expected to be returned to ***, the utility, effective September 15, 2016.We strive to care for each and every customer's needs and fulfill their requests when feasibleIn regards to *** ***'s requests: 1) Talen Energy be removed from the bill. As noted above, we expect that to occur on September 15, 2016. 2) Talen Energy remove personal information. Records will be retained as required under applicable laws and regulationsHowever, We can ensure that we will not share customer information with any other parties unless required to do So by regulation or law, nor shall we use Customer information for marketing or any other purpose unless required to do so by regulation or law.3) A billing adjustment.The Pennsauken Township Energy Aggregation Program is a savings programIt reduces Customers' prices for electricity supplyWhen the Customer has Talen Energy as the Supplier, the Customer is paying a lower price Compared to ***Specifically, the Supply price with Talen Energy is $0.10865/kWh, while the *** price is currently $for the first kWh each month and $for additional monthly kWh.Through this program, the *** household saved $just on their July 20, bill.The Customer's enrollment with Talen Energy is in compliance with state laws and regulations as part of a program approved by Pennsauken TownshipThe Customer is saving money with Talen Energy; therefore, there is no applicable balance to adjust.Your attention to the above matter is greatly appreciatedShould you require any additional information, please feel free to contact me directly at ###-###-#### or via email at ***@talenenergy.com.Respectfully,Marc DSenior Program Manager, Residential Marketing
