*** *** Revdex.com response Response to: Customer’s Statement of the Problem: 1. Commitment to finish in days: Sales repdid not committee
to have roof be done in days or would have been in contract. Rep stated that it usually takes days to do a roof such as yours2. How long job took: Job did take days due to steepness and complexity of roof3. Supervision of Job: The job had a crew foreman on site the total time who is responsible for the quality of work. In addition to crew foreman. Third day SWAT delivery manager visited the site for quality control. Sales manager and Owner have also visited job site to inspect quality of work4. Crooked shingle problem: All structures are slightly flawed and not always square. Shingles were removed in one small section of house and redone to address home owners concerns and under his watchful eye completed to home owner’s satisfaction5. Destruction of property: There was absolutely no destruction of property other than a small section of plants(Setcreasea Pallida (also called Purple Heart or Purple Queen)) that had a few stems broken offI have same plants in my front yard and they grow fast. To replace the total area which only a portion was disturbed would take about plugs. Plugs cost each at local distribution center6. Nails in yard: Yes there were nails that got on the ground as with any roofing job. A magnetic sweep was gone over the property multiple times to pick up any remaining nails as well as crew member picking up. 99.9% of all nails were picked up by the time job was over7. Current imperfections in roof: Final job has been completed and Andrew has a quality roof on his house with a year workmanship warranty under weather conditions.Response to Desired Settlement:1. Independent inspection at SWAT expense: A quality roof was put on and roof has a year workmanship warranty that covers loss of shingle, leaks, etc… It has rained recently on the house and no leaks have been called in. No need for independent inspection.2. Reimbursement of damaged plants: SWAT agrees to pay $towards damaged plants and installation of plants3. Removal of supplies: Was completed as soon as the job was finished. Additional Comments:Andrew was not happy from the very beginning. The morning the job started July he was texting use at 6:45am why is everyone not at the job site even though we had crew members on site and Swat had no official start time.. At 8:Andrew is complaining that our trailer is in the drive way backed up to garage to unload old shingles. Needed to be at this spot so we did not have to unload roof on to the yard. Day two started texting Swat “You can’t put us through inconvenience at our expense. Finish today or you need to make provisions in the cost for delaysI will not pay full cost” Andrew already looking for a way to make money off Swat. “Do not take me lightly Brice” Threating our sales rep at 11:the second day before any issue arouse Day “The shingles are blocking the garage the past days. If you don’t pick it up today I will call security to haul it off. You have till 6pm. I would need to subtract all these inconveniences from any payments.” “Storage of shingles is $today and tomorrow will be another $as neither my wife nor I are able to park our cars.” It is apparent to me that Andrew had a plan of pounding and threatening whatever roofing company that replaced his roof to get a reduced price

When [redacted] came out to repair what he says was a window problem, was in fact a leak that occurred in my garage from the improperly installed roof.  [redacted] stated I owed him the remaining balance.  I told him that I was in the middle of a custody battle and that I could give him a partial payment because that is all I had.  [redacted] stated he would take that.  I did not receive multiple calls from SWAT roofing nor would I ignore the calls.[redacted] says that he has assessed my roof.  I would like to know when he came out to look at my roof and why I was not notified that he would be there so we could go over the findings. The shingles have a lifetime warranty and there is a 15 year warranty on the labor.  The shingles are high impact resistant shingles and we have not experienced any severe storms of that magnitude. All I'm asking is that the roof be replaced so this won't happen again.  I really don't want to have to go the route of small claims court, I just want my roof replaced correctly.
Regards,
[redacted]

SWAT Contracting did replace Stephanie [redacted] roof in May of 2011. SWAT Contracting did not send someone out to her home and tell her that the roof was not installed properly. However, Mrs. [redacted] refused to pay her final balance owed. Mrs. [redacted] stated she was going through a divorce and...

custody battle and needed the money for her personal bills. SWAT Contracting continued to call Mrs. [redacted] about her balance owed after her insurance company told us she had received her final payment from them. Mrs. [redacted] told [redacted] that she spent the check because her court case was taking all her money. [redacted] stated that he was sorry about her personal situation but she needed to pay her final balance. She stated that she could not pay at that time. [redacted] called her multiple times after that in which Mrs. [redacted] avoided the calls. Several weeks went by Mrs. [redacted] called to say she had a partial payment and if [redacted] would come out to look at a window where water had come in and seal it for her that she would give a partial payment of the amount still owed providing SWAT Contracting would just give her a paid in full invoice. [redacted] did go out to seal the window which had nothing to do with her roof so he could at least recover some of what was owed to SWAT Contracting. Due to the length of time, [redacted] felt that at this point, he would get what he could get as far as final payment. SWAT Contracting has not heard from Mrs. [redacted] in several years when she contacted [redacted] about a leak. [redacted] did assess her roof and discovered her problem is storm damage not an installation or a warranty issue. Mrs. [redacted] stated that SWAT Contracting said the roof was not installed properly ,if this was the case, why has she waited from 2011 until 2015 to report an issue. The current roofing issue Mrs. [redacted] has is due to severe storm damage from current storms. SWAT Contracting did provide a labor warranty which we stand behind. Her warranty does not cover severe storm damage occurrences. Mrs. [redacted] stated that she has not had any problems with this roof for almost 5 years now she requesting a full refund due to storm damage. The shingle manufacturer for that particular shingle does provide a lifetime warranty on the shingle but if a severe storm occurrence happens, the shingle is damaged during a storm it becomes an insurance issue not an installation or manufacturer issue.  Mrs. [redacted] wants a full refund on a roof that has protected her home for 5 years without any reported problems. This claim is unwarranted and without merit.       Thank You,   [redacted]

[redacted] met with a SWAT representative and stated that her insurance company had came out and only paid for one slope of her home to be replaced. However, her home had several wind damaged shingles on other slopes of her roof. The SWAT representative explained to her that she needed to do the repairs...

that the insurance company had deemed necessary to put the home back as it was prior to the storm. [redacted] stated that she was selling the home and she only wanted to repair those few wind blown shingles that you could see from the ground. She stated that she did not want to pay anything out of her pocket. [redacted] stated that doing the back slope of the home made no sense when she was selling the home anyway. The insurance company had allowed quite a bit more money to do the entire back slope of the home and [redacted] was going to be responsible for her deductible which she did not want to pay. [redacted] not only wanted to not pay her deductible but also did not want to do all the repairs the insurance company stated needed to be done because she was selling the home anyway. [redacted] asked the SWAT representative to just give her a bid for the few wind damaged shingles she could see from the ground. He quoted her a price of $1100.00 and she told him that she approved of the bid and to go ahead and get the work done. SWAT completed the work as discussed and [redacted] paid after the work was complete and she was satisfied. [redacted] then contacted the SWAT representative several days later and he another SWAT representative went back out to meet with [redacted] to see what the problem was. [redacted] stated that she had an inspection done on her home and that the inspection revealed that more roof work needed to be done and wanted SWAT to do it. The SWAT representative stated that it would cost more money to roof the entire back slope and other items that now she wanted done. That is why the insurance company had allowed more money but [redacted] only wanted to do the minimum of what she thought needed to be done to sell her home. [redacted] began verbally abusing the SWAT representatives after they explained that it was more money just like the insurance company allowed to do that much work. [redacted] did not want to spend that kind of money to do the complete job as stated by her insurance company. [redacted] tried to get out cheap and now wants SWAT to do all of these extra repairs for free that she did not want to pay for. [redacted] did not have a problem with this situation until her home did not pass inspection for sale. SWAT completed the work as discussed and was paid for that work only. In [redacted]'s complaint she stated that we repaired 50 shingles for $1000 then later stated 40 shingles for $1100. SWAT replaced the wind damaged shingles that were discussed for a price of $1100. SWAT has completed the job as discussed and was paid in full by a satisfied client. [redacted] would not have paid in full after she inspected the work if she was not satisfied at that time. SWAT should not be responsible for a refund of any kind nor should SWAT do any more work other than what was originally agreed upon.
