Dear MrGregory:This office represents the Respondent, Shay Construction, with respect to the above-referenced ComplaintI am in receipt of your letter to Shay Construction dated March 25, requesting a response to the Complaint. The customer recently initiated litigation against ShayTherefore, as a result of the pending litigation, and other than denying the allegations levelled against it by the customer, Shay respectfully declines to provide a more detailed response to the Revdex.com (“Revdex.com”) at this time since any response may be publicly posted on the Revdex.com website. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.Sincerely,

The workmanship to date is good. That said, the management is HORRIBLE. We had a flooded basement and were forced to use this contractor by USAA - if we did not, we would have not been compensated the full replacement value for the damage. Within the first week, Shay had repaired drywall and replaced most of the damaged flooring - GREAT, right? Not so fast... Now, two months later, our basement is still unfinished. We have two rooms that do not have flooring, and a bathroom that has no vanity. They fail to return phone calls when they make promises to come out to finish work and no one shows up! They have failed to provide us an invoice for work done to date so that we can move on and have another contractor finish. It is ridiculous. They have obviously bitten off more insurance jobs than they can chew, as this job should have been completed a month ago. I don't understand how they have stayed in business. Shame on USAA for having them on their list of contractors. AVOID this company and tell USAA to send someone else of they show up!

Attention: Complaint department for complaint ID [redacted]This letter is In response to the documented complaint ID [redacted] for [redacted], MD [redacted]We were invited as the Restoration Contractor by the Owner of the above noted...

property. We are a selected Insurance restoration contractor for 21 insurance programs and have been in business for over 35 years and have done Insurance restorations for over 15 years. We have completed small water damaged repairs to complete house restorations without complaint until this client. The $95,000.00 payment was made to us through the Owners Insurance recommendations and mortgage company’s issuance. This 1st draw also included over $18,000.00 for demolition and haul away which has been completed. There are 2 issues with the house construction scope of work. There is the scope of work for replacement of the existing that the Insurance Company has allowed. Then there is a Construction drawing that has what the Owner would like the house to be which adds additional cost to the budget- We agreed to try and work with this Owner to get them as much as the budget could afford by saving some of the existing structure and using that savings to help offset the added costs. We fully reject the idea that the workmanship is poor. In fact we believe the work complete thus far is above the standard of the trades for this type of work. House wrap that blew off in the high winds of the resent storms would have been replaced/repaired as the siding was installed. The structural beam referred to is not included in the written scope of work but we were in the process off having it engineered to see if the existing beam and columns were ok, If it needed to be changed out we would then do so. The rotted wood referred to is in an area at the existing entry door and brick opening. This brick was being evaluated to determine if it needed to be removed and/or replaced. If the brick was determined to need replacement then the rotted wood would have been replaced at that time, if the brick could remain then we would have replaced the 2x4's in question before insulation was installed. The condition of the brick referred to by the clients letter is for brick that Is existing, this brick veneer was installed by others and there Is no evidence that the wall had foiled as it appears that there are no cracks In the brick or the brick mortar joints. It is our opinion that this owner had ‘planned' for this action well in advance of his termination of us as the contracted contractor. We are evaluating all the cost that we incurred from the date of signing the contract with this owner and evaluating the amount of additional cost he owes us. Let it be known that all permit development, permit costs, materials, foundations, framing, roofing and windows are currently Installed. Shay Construction is in the process of filing legal action and liens against this clientWe would invite anyone from the Revdex.com to visit us at this project for evaluation of the quality of our work,Thanks,
