S & S Handyman Service

Review: S and S Handyman Service breached contract on work that they agreed to complete on the week of the 5th of April 2013. No work from contract was done.

On February 18th, 2013 we paid S and S handyman service $2700.00 "check number 6785", as a deposit toward a job that we hired them to do. They were to build a steel shed to cover our boat and install soffit and facia on our garage studio. They also agreed to install rain gutters on three different areas, "porch area, shed area and front of garage studio. They said work would be completed on the week of the 5th of April. Toward the end of March they said that the work would be delayed ten days. Then, in mid April they said that it would be delayed another ten days. When they didn't show up on date after 2nd postponement, I tried to call them a number of times. They never returned any of my calls. We had expressed on more than one occasion to S and S handyman service that the things we hired them to do needed to be done by the week of the 5th of April. We were getting our house refinanced and the credit union was going to get the property appraised. We also told them that we had no extra money for the project and they were going to work out some payments over a few month period. Then on May 1st we received a letter stating that S and S handyman service would not be doing any of the work that they agreed to do. They also said that they didn't know when we would be paid back our $2700.00, that they would pay us back when they could. This company ran us around since February 18th 2013. They have put us in a great bind. We obviously didn't get the things done by our due date and now we don't have our budgeted money to hire another company. They have caused us much stress. I also wanted to add that on a number of occasions that they said they would be working on other projects that we hired them to do for us they never even showed up. They were also late a number of times. Numerous times [redacted] the owner of S and S handyman service would show up totally grouchy with a bad attitude like he didn't want to be there. I also heard him on numerous occasions using explicit profanity. I have two young children and thought that was very unprofessional.

The bottom line is they lied to us, they were an unjust imposition on our time and they still have our most needed money so we can hire an honest company to come do what they said they would do and didn't. A warning to anyone considering hiring S and S handyman service.

Desired Settlement: I would like my $2700.00 that S and S handyman service took from us way back in February of 2013. I would like closure from trusting these unprofessional people, and would be happy to never see them again.

We got a call from [redacted] back in Jan of 2013 at that time he wanted us to go fix some problems that he was having with another handyman that he had do work for him he also had problems with we agreed to help him he complained that knothing was done right and that he paid out all this money and this is also the problem we had with [redacted] is that we did all this work for way lower than we ever should of with him still always complaining that it was to much and doing everything for knothing then my husband [redacted] still agreeing to do work for him at a very low price with [redacted] taking advantage of his good nature he agreed to build this shed for [redacted] with me telling him not to that I felt like it would be a big mistake but [redacted] being a good person he did it anyway taking his check to order the materials for him with him not taking any responability that it was his fault that the order kept getting delayed [redacted] kept changing his mind and that is why it got delayed each time costing us more money with out saying anything we took the large loss and why we were waiting for the materials to come in [redacted] was still going over there doing small jobs and him still making life hard on him I had to put a stop to this and I called and told his wife she is the one who answered the phone after [redacted] tried to beat him up while he was there I did not want any more to do with this guy and the bottom line is that I cancelled everything and we just want to give him back his money and not to ever do any work for him again we are waiting for a refund and as soon as we get that we will gladly give him a full refund with us taking a huge loss for the refund they told me that this would take 8 to 12 weeks and as soon as we get it we will gladly give nnit to him with no problem.
