RTI originated an insurance policy for me with a carrier that was not admitted with the State of Florida. The carrier will not pay my claim.
On March 30, 2018 I phoned RTI to file a claim for water damage in my condominium at ***. unit *** Ft Myers Beach, FL 33931. The adjusters assigned to the claim were rude and disrespectful. I had to pay for all the damage repairs out of pocket in the amount of $32,000. As of 1/30/2019 I have received no settlement from the carrier. RTI has refused to communicate with me or help me resolve my claim. I now have learned that the company RTI placed me withis for commercial rental companies not homeowners living in their condo. The carrier raised my deductible at renewal by double the previous year. RTI did not make me aware of this. I was paying commercial rates when I should not have been. The carrier was not licensed with the State of Florida.
i want to have my insurance claim paid by the carrier that RTI wrote my coverage with. I want RTI to reimburse me the deductible of $5,000.00 which was doubled from the previous years policy without the increase being brought to my attention.
Unfortunately Mr. was dissatisfied with the settlement of his claim filed with ***. Throughout the process our agency did advise Mr *** and his attorney that it is the insurance carrier that is responsible for settling claims according to the terms of the policy. The agency has no authority in the claims process as the policy contract is between the insured and the carrier. Along the way we did communicate with the claims department on behalf of Mr *** by forwarding communication to them that we received from Mr *** and his attorney. *** placed this coverage with Lloyd's of London. *** is an excess market which is authorized to write business in Florida. Excess markets exist to provide coverage for unique risks or those that standard (admitted) carriers are not willing to insure. Mr ***'s claim that our agency placed his coverage with a commercial carrier negligently is incorrect. This property was deeded in the name of an LLC. That is a legal entity and not an individual. For that reason among others, this was the proper carrier to place this risk. The claims responsibility was communicated to Mr *** and his attorney multiple times. *** used an adjusting company called ***. If there is any dispute to be had, it would be to *** and/or ***. The claims process can be frustrating and the expectation of the policyholder can sometimes differ from the way the policy actually responds at the time of a loss. We are sorry that Mr *** did not receive what he felt was full restitution but I believe there was no negligence on the part of our agency. I cannot speak for *** or *** but our agency does continue to place business with *** as they are a reputable company which has always served our agency and clients well. Our agency has a solid reputation over the 20+ years doing business in Florida. We value our policyholders and we are very sorry that Mr *** has had a disappointing claims experience.
I have never had a problem with this company. everytime I called them, they were helpful and knew exactly how to handle my claims. I have had two claims and they processed them quickly and thoroughly.
Do not under any circumstances use this company! The office on Fort Myers Beach has no idea what they are doing and do not follow through on any paperwork. They have not updated our files with information that we gave them over a year ago and because of that we received a check from our insurance company to pay for reconstruction of our demolished home from Irma that had the wrong mortgage company on it! We could not cash the check. This is not the first time that RTI has caused chaos and confusion and we have been loyal customers since 2000 giving them chance after chance to get up to speed on issue after issue that we always had to sort out ourselves. This company is BAD BAD BAD. Save yourself from a bad experience and use someone else to manage your home insurance!
I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would hate to see how they handle a claim. I was lied to and then told a totally different answers the next day. So I called the Company direct and found out the truth. I would not trust this Agency at all. Just do your job and be honest.
