Was charged for an extended warranty @ $3898.00 we did not order, nor did we want or receive.
We requested the Factory Warranty that came with the purchase of the new vehicle.
We contacted many times and was put off each quarter to check our statement for the refund deposit of $3898.00.
Went thru salesman for about 6 mos after filling out proper paperwork. He finally turned us over to the finance mgr. who also put us off 3 more quarters, stating it WILL BE REFUNDED into our finance principle and he will help re-fi amount of vehicle to bring it to our agreed monthly payment of $427.00, instead of a shocking $547.73/monthly. Last contact with ***, finance mgr. 7/30/19 asked us to wait til next statement and we should then see it on our principle, in our statement from our credit union. When I contacted him after statement arrived without refund AGAIN, they had went out of business.
Receptionist gave us an owner of *** and to contact him via email at ***.

Purchased a package for 3 oil changes. They took my money and the money of hundreds others, I'm sure. The dealership abruptly closed up shop and went out of business. I've paid my money expecting the services be provided. Very disappointed!

This was a great Business while they were here. This location has closed...Royal Gate Columbia is Closed...

I question their business practices. They took advantage of my naive nature as a new car buyer. When I first signed all paperwork, they took possession of the car I traded in, I did not own the car, nor was it in my name, it was in my mother's name. She did go and sign the car over, but I was informed by my mother it was illegal for them to take possession of the car at that time. The price offered on this car as a trade in was also ridiculous, again pointed out by my mother, an experienced car buyer. Taking more advantage, they pushed the gap insurance, extended warranty, and high interest rate financing. With the help of my mother, I have cancelled the gap insurance, and extended warranty. But none of this is what the BIG ISSUE. On November 17, 2018, I purchased a 2014 Chevy Cruse. I disclosed that I live in Missouri. In Missouri I paid my sales taxes, and paid for my license plates, and applied the title. I received a letter from Mo. Dept. of Revenue, that I personally delivered to ***. I also emailed a copy to ***, and ***, in which I received a response that it would be taken care of. I again received another letter from Mo. Dept. of Revenue, April 2019. Again, I forwarded it to ***, and ***, and was told they would handle it. I sent an email to the Mo. Dept. of Revenue asking for what they specifically need to resolve this issue so I can get my title. Apparently Royal Gate Dodge took possession of this car from a ***, and did not get the legal documents required by law. ***, took possession of the car after the death of his mother. *** did not have the certified will, signed by a judge legally granting *** as the owner of this vehicle. In the State of Illinois, as well as the State of Missouri, a certified will legally required. So simply put....I am now the owner of a stolen vehicle that Royal Gate Dodge sold me. I cannot get the title for this car without the certified, judge signed will granting *** the vehicle, that Royal Gate Dodge took ownership of, and then sold to me. I have tried to get this issue resolved but Royal Gate Dodge is now dismissing me. I guess they are relying on my naive, young nature to take advantage of me yet again. I am paying a huge loan on this car. I need this resolved and would greatly appreciate your help. I have contacted the dealership, the bank, and can get no assistance. Thank you.

Case # ***

Royal Gate Dodge has been in communication with ***, and the General Manager has a meeting set up with her at the Columbia store on Friday July 19, 2019 @1:00pm. After meeting we will respond with resolution.

I received a mailing from this business that said if I matched 3 of the items I won the prize. I matched 3 items and won $3000. When I called the business about the prize I was asked for the activation number and to come into the dealership to match my activation number with theirs to determine if I'd won.

Attached is a copy of the work order (exhibit 2) and invoice (exhibit 1) for the work *** had completed at our dealership. As you can see, the loaner car was described as “Customer Pay” on our work order. *** signed the work order on September 7, 2018 before work began on the vehicle. The repairs on *** truck were extensive and took a couple of weeks to complete. During those weeks, our service advisor, Michael Law, was in frequent contact with *** keeping them apprised of the repair’s progression.

At no time was the customer told the rental would be free, in fact *** continued to tell them the rental was at their expense. When they complained about the amount the rental would cost them, *** told him he would take
$200.00 off the cost of the service bill to help offset the cost of the rental. I have highlighted the $200.00 discount on the enclosed service invoice (exhibit 1). Exhibit 3 is a copy of the original estimate for the repairs which was
$6400.00. The *** paid $6198.84 for the repair bill.

When repairs to the *** truck were completed, *** came to the dealership to pay the bill and pick up their truck. *** asked where the rental car was and *** told him the rental car was with *** out of town. At that time, again, *** told her the rental car needed to be returned or they would continue to incur charges until it was returned. Both *** were aware the rental car was their responsibility to pay.

My husband and I traded a car and bought a truck from this dealer in 4/2018. 6/2018 we received a phone call stating the dealership was calling the cops because we stole a vehicle. We called them back and they told us we stole the vehicle we traded in, which was false. They turned it into the police department. We spoke to the police department where they told us we were not a suspect in the matter. November we refinanced the truck we bought from them and January I submitted a gap insurance refund to Royal Gate. I allowed 4 to 6 weeks and started to call in April of 2019. They told me there was a problem with the refund so I needed to speak with ***. Finally after several attempts to contact *** he called me back and told me that we are still suspects in fraud and they will not give us our refund. I contacted the police department where they gave me access to the police report where it states we are not of any interest to this case. I called *** again and he told me they will not give us anything. That he runs the show and I asked who else I needed to speak with and he told me no one hes the end of the line he makes the decisions.

Re: *** Royal Gate Dodge sold *** a 2015 Ram 1500 *** and they traded a 2015 Chrysler 200 ***. After the sales was complete we learned that the title that was received from *** was now void as a new title was applied for with the Missouri Department of Revenue on the Chrysler 200 *** traded in to Royal Gate Dodge roughly two weeks after they traded it to Royal Gate Dodge. At this time it is an open investigation still with our insurance company as we are unable to sell the trade valued at that time of $10,000.00. Royal Gate Dodge has suffered significate damages in this matter.

We have been released from this case all together. It was a fraud case and we had nothing to do with it. We have been released from both missouri State patrol and columbia IL police department. My 2013 Chrysler 300 has needed a map update since 2916. But the radio id on the unit does not match Chrsler and Garmin’s records so they won’t update. The update was supposed to be free. I contacted Garmin repeatedly in 2016 but stopped trying when I became ill.

I have contacted Royal Gate recently - in October- and they just pass me from dept to dept. I am so frustrated. As I’ve reached my 60’s I have had problems navigating.

All I need is for Chrysler to update my GPS system. Or install a new GPS.

Royal Gate Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Columbia Response • Nov 21, 2018

Royal Gate Dodge, Columbia received a complaint from *** who could not get the radio to accept navigation updates and she reported that the radio needed to be replaced. She had an expired Chrysler service contract that the Service Manager was able to get a replacement radio authorized as a goodwill repair with a 100.00 deductible. Ms. Brown's complaint also stated that no one ever called her back but the Service Manager had no record of this ever happening.

The radio was replaced but that does not always come with the latest update---map updates are NOT at no charge.

My check engine light came on so I took my vehicle to the Columbia, IL location for Royal Gate Dodge on 4/12/18. They checked it out and told me my vehicle was leaking several different fluids and that all the lines had to be replaced. I agreed to the work because it was under warranty. I brought the vehicle home on 4/17/18 and parked it in my garage. The next morning there was a puddle under my vehicle. I called back to the Columbia, IL location. I was hung up on so I decided to take my car to their main location on Ellisville, Mo on Manchester on 4/19/18. There I was told it was still leaking and the air conditioner condenser needed to be replaced. I picked up my car on 4/23/18. On 4/24/18 the Ellisville location called me to tell me they forgot to put on the power steering line and asked could I bring the car back. At this point I no longer wanted Royal Gate to do any work on my vehicle so I took it to another dealership in the area and found that I also needed a catalytic converter. This should have been discovered by Royal Gate when they determined the other issues with my vehicle.

Purchased new 2017 Durango on 03/23/2018 for $43,670.94 total sales price (Retail price of $51,265.00) from Royal Gate Columbia. Finance (***) stated at time of the sale that the titling paperwork gets transferred to the Ellisville, Missouri location for processing and the titling information will be mailed to my home respectfully in time for me to obtain proper plates/licensing/taxes.

On 03/14/2018 brought new 2017 vehicle into service department to check on an issue ran into salesman, (*** Reichert) mentioned to him verbally that I need my paperwork for taxes. *** stated that the office in Ellisville, MO is closed today (saturday) and he will follow up and contact me via telephone on Monday the 16th. No further contact to this moment yet from *** (currently 4/17/18 7:56pm).

I called at approximately 4:00 pm on 4/16/18 and left a voicemail for him at his cellphone of *** to contact me back for the information.

4/17/18 at 10:15 am, I called *** and spoke with Jennifer (identified herself as business manager) she stated that she is unable to locate the MSO (factory title) for the vehicle I purchased. Jennifer stated that she will gather further information and give me a call back in return.

4/17/18 at 10:30 am, *** (identified herself as Biller in accounting office) stated that she has ordered a duplicate MSO (factory title) and that it takes approximately 5-6 business days to reach her. *** stated that apparently the title was "lost in the shuffle" from the Columbia, Illinois location to the Ellisville, Missouri location (her office). *** stated that once she has the MSO she will then contact me to let me know via telephone (verified phone number) and that she will overnight mail to my residence.

I don't feel that this is appropriate to purchase a vehicle and have to "jump through hoops" to get the proper documentation for the sale so I can pay my taxes to obtain my proper vehicle registration. The title for my traded in vehicle (2015 Jeep Wrangler) was handed over at the time of the sale without any prejudice!!! As well with my check of payment!

This needs to be resolved immediately!

Royal Gate Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Columbia Response • Apr 24, 2018

While we understand *** frustration we have completed the process of getting all new documentation for ***. We expect to have everything ready in the next 2-4 days. We also advised Kimberly that we would pay any late fees she may incur. We believe this to be a satisfactory compensation and resolution. Once again we apologize to *** for any inconvenience.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

It has been 7 days and still no contact from the dealership representatives. I’ve called and left two messages agin to get further information. I’ve also contacted my financial institution where we obtained the loan. They would also like this resolved immediately and that for a new vehicle to not have the title is unheard of.

This is a follow up to Complaint ID. Royal Gate Dodge originally put the incorrect VIN on my contract, then when they recognized the problem, worked to create a new contract with *** (the same lender from the original loan). Now *** shows I have two $25K+ loans and after talking with them, Royal Gate was supposed to send *** a payoff check to close out the first loan. I've called them multiple times. I've gone in the Royal Gate in person and was assured they were going to fix this. As of today, the original loan is still not closed. When I talked to ***, they told me that a second contract wasn't even required, that it would have been more appropriate to file a change of collateral.

Royal Gate Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Columbia Response • Apr 11, 2018

We are aware of these issue and have communicated to *** that we have handled the payoff with the *** and refunded all monies due to ***. We provided all tracking info as well to *** for overnight packages sent as well. To our knowledge this complaint has now been resolved.

I purchased my vehicle from Royal Gate in January, and had to return multiple times due to incorrect information filled in on the contract. The second time was due to the fact they filled in the wrong VIN number information on the contract. I arranged to come in on Saturday Mar 3rd upon their request on March 2nd., and gave them 30 minutes notice prior to my arrival. I sat in the waiting room almost an hour and complained multiple times about having to wait. 5 minutes after I left, they called me to return, and I said I'd come back in on Monday. Within an hour, I had a hard hit on my credit from ***, the car loan company I had originally purchased the loan through. At this point, I'd consider this harassment. I'm going to return today to confront the credit check and hopefully sign the corrected paperwork.

Tell us why here...To our knowledge and understanding Mr. is completely satisfied with the conclusion of this transaction. We did run an additional inquiry to negotiate a better interest rate for Mr.. We did re-contract Mr. at a lower rate for the inconvenience of coming back to the dealership multiple times. Should there be any other information needed please don't hesitate to contact us.

I have purchased 3 vehicles from Royal Gate in Columbia, IL. I've tried a couple times getting an oil change in past years. Making an appt and dropping my car off in the morning, when I called to check status, no answers. Show up at the end of the day and still no oil change done. I refused to go again for an oil change and wait for nothing. Recently I had an issue with my Chrysler 200 dying after starting it. I had to take it to the nearest dealer which was Royal Gate. I was reluctant but hoped I'd get better service this time. Nope! I dropped my car off at 5pm the night before my 7:30am appt. Called at 10 am asked for status. My car had not been looked at yet. I asked for a manager to call me back. No one called me back. I called again at 12:30pm no answer, called back got a women who transferred me to ***, but I got Holly's VM. Called back, no answer so I left a VM letting them know that I would be coming to get my car soon, please just leave it be. I would take it somewhere else. I was disappointed. I show up and *** comes to talk to me. Before I can ever get a word in he comes off as very defensive and with a horrible attitude he basically in so many words acted like I was the problem and he couldn't care less that I was unhappy. Plus they were working on my car after I had asked them to just leave it. I asked them to give me to keys I was upset and I was leaving. After about 10 mins a guy brought my car up got out and told *** that I had no oil in my car and it barely started. *** proceeded to hand me a bill for $150. No sure what he thought I was going to pay for? He told me to just take my car and leave. I had to pull over 2 minutes down the road because my car dyed again. He had me leave and put no oil in my car. They were extremely rude, arrogant and unhelpful. I wasn't surprised but I was disappointed yet again. I WILL NEVER GO TO ROYAL GATE AGAIN. Completely uncalled for.

I went to Royal Gate as the driver of a 2012 Ram 1500 HEMI and I wanted an additional vehicle with high mpg so I could be okay with driving it for work and packing the miles on it. I was offered a 2015 Ecodiesel with 24.5 mpg and a Lifetime Warranty to go with it. The Ecodiesel would provide me with a truck I needed and also the high mpg vehicle to work out of. Perfect! 22 months later after 85000 miles the truck began to have problems. Four identical problems within two months and now they say they cant honor my Lifetime Warranty that I purchased for $3997. This vehicle does me no good without the Lifetime Warranty. At first they made all kinds of great promises to get out of the signed deal. They were going to reimburse my warranty money and give me an amazing deal on something that wasn't diesel and then buy me a Lifetime for that vehicle. They say we'll give you too much for your vehicle and give you too many discounts on the replacement truck. Don't forget that I when I bought the ecodiesel I already had a HEMI that got 12.5 mpg. Now in order to fix their problem they want to leave me once again needing both a truck for normal home and fun life and also a high mpg vehicle for work. The first offer they gave me for the truck was over $3000 less than what Carmax offered. So much for them going above and beyond. They keep showing me these trucks to replace what I have and nothing has the features like I am replacing. Im not looking for leather and heated steering wheels but they keep showing them. Regardless of the vehicle, every offer I received was a deal any average Joe would have made. Nothing special. They told me a vehicle with the description and color I wanted wasn't available within 500 miles. I drove 8 miles to South Town Dodge and there was the exact truck I have been talking about. The General Manager at one point was literally chewing me out because I wouldn't buy the vehicle that they wanted to put me in. Simply put, this dealer is trying to bully me out of my truck and a signed warranty contract because they screwed up and sold me this thing. They do not want to honor the Lifetime warranty or take a hit to get me into something else to get out of the deal honestly. I shouldn't be financially burdened at all for this. I would be a terrible business man if I was in the habit of buying $50000 vehicles to load miles on them and sell them two years later for Blue Book price.

Customer Response • Jan 30, 2018

I was asked a few questions in this message. The dealer was not able to replace the truck with anything in their inventory. I got the feeling they must have just wanted to get me out of their hair with just having to give me the price of the warranty and not doing anything about making my situation resolved. I felt that their offers have been so low that they just want me to fill out the paperwork and go away. They leave me in an incredibly poor situation if I take what they have offered so far. Ive spoken with the car dealer one time since I filed the complaint. It was nearly 3 weeks after filing the complaint, about 11/30. The reason we spoke is because ***, the finance director, called me back in response to an offer I made to him over an email. At that time he said he did not know anything about the complaint with the Revdex.com.*** countered my offer with something completely insulting again. I don't have a problem with them looking out for their bottom line but they are killing mine in the process. I'm just asking for fairness. At the time that the dealer notified me about the problem, which was two years after the purchase, I was having some issues with the truck. I paid for the first few repairs because they said it was basic maintenance that would fix it. These attempts didn't fix the problem and the repairs certainly did become more in depth. At that point the dealer did cover the repairs that weren't considered maintenance. Over the 60 day period the truck was in their shop for more than 35 days over 4 attempts at repairing. It seems to be running fine at this point but I'm not sure what will happen if there is a problem. On the one phone call I had with ***, he mentioned that even though I paid for the lifetime warranty I really don't have one. He said, "You only filled out an application for the warranty."Thank you.Call anytime.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Two years passed since the purchase date when I was notified that Royal Gate Dodge in Columbia, IL did not want to honor the Lifetime Warranty I purchased with a 2015 Dodge Ram Ecodiesel. In my original complaint on 11/10/17, I noted that when I purchased the vehicle in question back in August of 2015, I was the driver of a 2012 Ram HEMI getting 12.5mpg. I went to the dealer shopping only for an additional vehicle with good mpg to use for work and keep my 2012 truck. I was offered the 2015 Ecodiesel with the Lifetime Warranty and I felt that it filled both needs, high mpg and it’s a truck for chores. I decided to trade in my HEMI and made the purchase of vehicle and warranty.
I reject the response from Royal Gate for multiple reasons.
If they give me the refund for the warranty and I walk away, I am left driving a 3-year-old truck with 98,000 miles and a history of repairs that took this dealer’s service department 4 tries and 35 days to repair the same malfunction. (We are incredibly close to a lemon situation.) The Lifetime Warranty is gold to me and I shouldn’t be forced to give it up. The Lifetime Warranty is the primary reason I signed the dotted line that day in 2015.
I agree with the dealer’s response in that they did make a couple of offers to remedy the situation. One of which was offering to buy my Ecodiesel for $3,000 less than the nearest CarMax down the highway. I thought Royal Gate would really step up knowing that the only reason we were doing this was because of their mistake. It didn’t make sense.
I gave the dealer the opportunity to come up with a deal to sell me a comparable truck too. I consistently told the dealer that I only needed to have the features that I am accustomed to and didn’t need every bell and whistle they offered. They could not deliver. They even tried to parade the same truck around for me twice. I’m not interested in spending for heated steering wheel, heated seats, and towing mirrors. I don’t even tow anything! Conversely, they would not come up with options to make a lesser equipped vehicle comparable either. All that time they wouldn’t even come up with a color of vehicle that I wanted. Eventually I conceded on things like color and sound package only to move forward but it still didn’t work. Even if I bought a new truck I would still have to pay taxes on it, pay for a new truck bed lining, and buy/install running boards to make it like the Ecodiesel. In addition I’d be back shopping for another vehicle that I need to work out of like I wanted to do 2 years ago. And a new purchase would mean starting a new loan term. No thank you. I’d have to pay taxes and insurance on the work vehicle too. I have a strict budget and they think its no big deal to alter that. In the end they just couldn’t come up with a vehicle in their inventory and apparantly they don’t trade with other dealers.
Their ideas for rectifying this all result in them smelling like a rose and I am spending money and hours getting back to where I was. I didn’t ask for this drama. I made a deal and so did they. Royal Gate Dodge in Columbia, IL is trying to nullify a deal 2 years after signing a contract and they tried to bully me into buying a vehicle that didn’t fit my needs. My contract says I paid for a Lifetime Warranty. The application for Mopar Vehicle Protection, that I have in my file from Royal Gate, has a section right above the Authorized Dealer Signature Line. This section says, “IMPORTANT NOTICE TO DEALER…..Your signature on this form signifies that: (1) This vehicle qualifies for the contract.” Later in the paragraph it says, (5) You have reviewed the Mopar Vehicle Protection Price and Eligibility Guide and agree to abide by the policies and procedures specified therein.” The Authorized Dealer Signature line is signed.
My original complaint was submitted on 11/9/17. I finally received a response from Royal Gate through the Revdex.com on 2/15/18. Can we communicate any more quickly than this? The longer this goes on I am feeling more and more vulnerable and mentally stretched. My personal, business, and family life is suffering with the time I must spend writing emails, researching, and communicating with lawyers. In the spring I start up work again and I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a situation where I am unable to work because we are wrapped up in a tug-o-war and the truck isn’t drivable. The attorneys tell me that Royal Gate hasn’t done anything wrong yet but what happens if I would need a repair? I am self-employed. No one pays me if I can’t work. I have called Chrysler’s customer service during the last couple of months to get some help and each time they say they can’t reach anyone at Royal Gate. Customer Service also says they will get back to me with an update when they do contact the reps at Royal Gate and they have yet to get back to me. What is going on over there?
This truck is no good to me without the Lifetime Warranty. Royal Gate was more than happy to sell me this vehicle and I drove it based on the contract we both signed. A signed contract leads me to assume that I’m covered and as a result I have worked out of this vehicle that has accrued 98,000 miles in 2.5 years. The average miles driven for Americans is 12,000 per year.
I would have made a terrible business decision if back in August of 2015 I bought a $50,000 vehicle to pack miles on, only to sell it for Bluebook price 2.5 years later. By waiting two years to notify me of this problem, Royal Gate is attempting to force me to make my truck purchase a bad business decision. At this point if they say the contract is invalid then they can have the truck and I will take a cashier’s check in the amount of the original purchase price plus the warranty price.
Thank you.

Sincerely

Tell us why here... RE: Complaint ***

Thank you for giving Royal Gate Automotive the opportunity to once again reply to this complaint. I feel we need to address each item Mr. has spoke of in his complaint. A.) Since Mr. has owned the vehicle (August of 2015), he has never paid for a warranty repair. in that almost 100,000 miles of ownership. B.) As Mr. has stated, Royal Gate Automotive, has made numerous attempts to rectify this complaint, including full refund of the $3,997.00 for the purchased warranty, plus interest on the warranty paid during the period of time Mr. has had his contract. Also, we have offered to trade with Mr. on 5 different occasions. Each time he left the dealership, he would re-contact Royal Gate and tell us he had a better price from another store on his trade-in. We offered to match the amount offered for his vehicle but never could get Mr. in to complete the transaction. We even went so far as to offer Mr. the $3,000 more that "CarMax down the highway" had offered him for his vehicle and offered to help him if he chose to trade-in the vehicle or sell the vehicle outright to CarMax.

I truly believe Royal Gate Automotive is trying to resolve this situation. Please let us know any other questions or comments the Revdex.com may have concerning this case.

Sincerely

Customer Response • Mar 05, 2018

Good day,
I feel like we are getting off topic here. The important thing to remember is that we have a contract that has been signed by two parties. This contract is a legal document the I’m sure many lawyers stared at to make it hold up in court. Let me remind you that Royal Gate in Columbia IL is trying to nullify this signed contract, without warning, two years after the purchase of the vehicle and warranty.
Regarding the recent response from the dealer.
A) That is correct. I never paid for a warranty repair since I bought the truck and the lifetime warranty. Hence the reason for buying a lifetime warranty. Having a warranty means that I don’t have to pay for repairs beyond maintenance and normal wear and tear. We didn’t have a problem with the truck until it was in for service 4 times within 2 months focusing on the same problem and I had to do some detective work to figure out why the service people were telling me I didn’t have a warranty. This detective work led to the complaint that I have officially filed through the Revdex.com.
B) The representatives from Royal Gate don’t seem to be communicating. Yes, of course you offered to give me back my $3997 that I paid for the warranty (now 30 months later). This is best case scenario for the dealer. I am not interested in keeping this vehicle without a lifetime warranty. I lose hugely if I accept this offer. Please refer to my last communication for clear reasons why.
Royal Gate did increase their offer to buy my vehicle after I told them that Carmax, at 6201 South Lindbergh Blvd. in St. Louis County, had made their offer. Their final offer was then $1000 more than *** (not $3000 as stated in the Dealer response). The dealer’s Revdex.com response also states that the dealer tried to trade with me 5 times? Even if it was 5 times, the offers included vehicles that I am not interested in buying. I do not think I am obligated to but a $53,000+ vehicle just because you are offering it to me. My consistent requests were, “If I have to give up the truck then I just want in a new vehicle what I am giving up.” Seems simple.
On one Friday we did decide on a truck that Royal Gate in Columbia IL was willing to get from another dealer. Even though the truck wasn’t the color I wanted and didn’t have the features I wanted, I agreed to come back and buy it on Monday to get this thing over with. I was working Monday (the supposed delivery day) and got a call from the dealer stating that they sold the selected truck over the weekend. Oops.
Other truck offers (as stated in other responses) were equipped above the level I needed and was beyond my budget. I don’t need heated seats and steering wheels. Another occasion that the dealer’s response must be referring to, could be one such vehicle that was over-equipped and it was presented to me twice. The second of which had drawn me back with a text telling me to “come back I have you taken care of.” I get to meet with Royal Gate’s dealer and it was a truck that I previously said I didn’t need. It was the exact same truck. I happened to receive this text as I was at another dealer, Southtown Dodge on South Lindbergh Blvd, looking at the exact truck that Royal Gate said didn’t exist within 500 miles. Why couldn’t Royal Gate just work something out with Southtown? Southtown said they wouldn’t trade with Royal Gate because of situations like I described going through currently.
Let’s focus on the real problem. It does not work for me to accept Royal Gate’s offer of a refund for the warranty. Based on the numerous recent repairs and the trouble that Royal Gate’s service department had in successfully performing these repairs, this truck is a potential lemon and has proven to be a financial risk regardless of the financially responsible party, and I cannot make a sacrifice, for a car dealer, at the expense of my family’s financial budget. So much time passed between the purchase of the truck/warranty and me being alerted to a problem, that Royal Gate’s proposed solution is a bad one.
Royal Gate is stating that our contract that was made official in August of 2015 is a bad contract. My current request is consistent with other Revdex.com communications since the initial complaint. Refund the total amount on the relevant receipt and the truck will be left with the dealer.

Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
Thank you for reconsidering your stance. I can appreciate your offer, but I would like to make a counteroffer.
My first offer through the Revdex.com would have left me in a position to make it easier to get back to the secure place I was before you disapproved of the sales contract. That suggested solution would have been the bottom line on the contract. $37,776 to me and Royal Gate takes possession of the truck. The day I made the purchase I told my 9-year-old son to “Take a look at his future truck.” A lifetime warranty on a diesel would enable him to take possession of the truck in another 7 years. You are taking this from us. The value of this lifetime warranty is realized over a very long period of time. The potential value of a warranty like this over the life of a diesel vehicle is spectacular.
We started these talks in August 2017 to resolve the situation when the vehicle had about 83,000 miles on the odometer. The truck currently has 100,000 miles. The monetary value of the truck has declined during this delay in settlement. What will I get offered for the truck with the current mileage? I put the miles on the vehicle because I had the warranty. Without the warranty I just have a vehicle with less value and lots of miles. My driving mind set was created by our deal and now I’m getting penalized for behaving appropriately.
Your offer of $6,000 in addition to the $4,000 for the warranty does not put me in the comfort level that I am familiar with after having bought a lifetime warranty. On 11/6/17 I emailed 3 employees of Royal Gate requesting the $4,000 for the warranty plus $10,000 to fairly compensate me to not only relieve Royal Gate of their responsibility but to help me fulfill my needs that are being taken from me. My trade-in value has decreased during the passage of time making my past proposed settlement number insufficient. In the interest of time and peace of mind though, my counter off will remain consistent with that proposal on 11/6.
I will now sell the vehicle, buy a reliable truck and the second vehicle that I planned on buying when Royal Gate Sold me this package in question instead. I will be paying taxes on both purchased vehicles. I will need to equip the new truck the same way I am accustomed to having a truck. All of this will take me away from my family and 3 small companies for many hours. I did not ask for this.
If this is a bad contract according to Royal Gate, $4,000 refund for the warranty plus $10,000 in settlement is the counteroffer.
Thank you.

I reject your offer.
This is all very simple. I would have never made this purchase two years ago if I would have known that the seller could say, two years later, part of this deal was a mistake and then they could take part of my purchase away, leaving me with a lemon of a truck. This activity that Royal Gate in Columbia IL is trying to pull off is not good business. What is the value of a contract with Royal Gate of Columbia IL?
Would it be lawful if a home seller came back to the buyer 2 years later and said they wanted to take the garage back because they really shouldn’t have sold it with the home? The seller then is behaving like it is ok to leave the buyer with a house having an essential part missing. This is very close to what is happening here. Royal Gate thinks it is proper business to renegotiate a contract, according to their needs, 2 years after the purchase is made. They want to take away an essential part of the deal for the buyer, me.
What if I hadn’t bought the lifetime warranty and two years later the truck was having some issues. I could say I made a mistake and realized that it is my wife’s policy to always buy lifetime warranties? Is it ok for me to go back and demand to have a warranty put on the contract as if it was day 1?
These two hypothetical situations are ridiculous of course. Our current debate is equally ridiculous. I had a perfectly good truck in August 2015 and I came in to buy a used high mpg vehicle, but your guy dangled a great deal in front of me. I traded in the perfectly good vehicle and didn’t buy the used high mpg vehicle as planned but instead bought the vehicle in question because it had a complete set of conditions that I needed met. Royal Gate cannot bait and switch. This would be considered a Deceptive Practice if you are changing the deal now.
I’m sure that there is some short period of time that either party involved in a car purchase contract can back out or change some part of that contract. 2 years is certainly beyond that period of forgiveness.
My contract says I paid for a Lifetime Warranty. The application for Mopar Vehicle Protection, that I have in my file from Royal Gate, has a section directly above the Authorized Dealer Signature Line.

Royal Gate has one question to answer. IS THE CONTRACT INVALID OR VALID?
Depending on this answer, we have two options that are the only things the team at Royal Gate in Columbia IL need to focus on…
If the contract is valid then I need the vehicle to get a MOPAR Bumper to Bumper Lifetime Warranty coverage number assigned. All of this is according to the signed contract.
If the contact is invalid, as stated in the original complaint I filed with the Revdex.com in November 2017, I will be refunded the full value of my receipt from August 2015 ($37,776.60) for the purchase of the truck and Lifetime Warranty. Royal Gate will then take possession of the vehicle and make the best of this situation.
Thank you
