This business did a good job on the roof but subcontracted the gutters and downspoutsThose people did a below average job and despite repeated calls about leaks and the gutter pulling away from from the house, I can't seem to get any responseI can't recommend any further business with this contractor
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
That is all I have ever really asked for; an expert who can come out to view the problems I am experiencingBeing that there is water coming into my home, from an area around the flashing, I would not turn to the electrician I've used in the past or the concrete company that recently did my driveway apronLogically, I turned to the Roofing company that did the original workMy concern as time progressed to weeks past my initial call for help is that the rain has a way of getting inI was getting the feeling of being abandoned.
Sincerely,

On 6/6/a contract was signed with home owner agreeing to the following: replacement of roof, with attention to specific
problem of water leaking off lower rear addition (drainage into undersized incorrectly installed gutter system)Water was leaking into wall and bedroom windowA custom made collector box to house large volume of water was installedHome owner was extremely happy with collector box functionalityThis was the problem home owner originally hadThe current problem now is related to severe ice dammingThe whole saddle area over addition fills up with ice blocking any water when ice is formed to drainNote: this area had 8feet of ice 6-8inches thickThis problem existed before roof was installed, indication of this was stained ceiling above areaHome owner was informed that his attic insulation might not be antiquate to retain heat which would cause premature melting of snowThis would cause snow to melt down and drain down into rear unheated addition causing severe ice accumulationAfter first problem with ice, I personally went out with installer and broke ice free to provide water to drainProblem solved temporarilyApproximately one month later problem reoccuredNote: excessive snow fall approximately 80inches+ accumulated over entire winter, ice damming is unavoidable in this situationOriginal problem was water drainage after rain falls, NOT ice dammingOriginal problem was solved with collector box as signed contract indicatedWhen home owner called for the second time I asked him I could come out and check the insulation to make sure it was adequateI was told that there was adequate insulation up in there and that it was a roof problemHome owner was upset and told me that I would hear from his attorneyAt that point there was nothing more I could doNow here I am addressing the Revdex.comMy warranties do not include ice dammingThis is an act of nature and is totally unpredictable with excessive snow fall and temperatures fluctuating above and below freezingI would be more than happy to meet with home owner and installers to water check his roof because there were no leakage issues that resulted from rainfallsIt is when temperature was above freezing and ice blockage occurred to prevent water drainage that home owners issue occurredIndication of no water leakage after rainfalls was evident because there were many rains prior to freezing weather and no calls were made to address any leakage issues with the roof prior to freezing temperatures and excessive snow fallsAll issues occurred after severe ice dammingUnfortunately some cases of snow and ice require dead saddle areas to be eliminated by reframing and closing off effected areas so snow and ice are not trapped in small confined areas which is the case hereIn conclusion, original problem was taken care of as promised and new problem that occurred is due to severe ice damming and is a completely separate problemI would be more than happy to meet with home owner to discuss future alternativesI have over years of experience and have handled similar issues to this home owners current problemIn previous matters I have joined together with architects to redesign the effected areas to eliminate the structural design problems that are causing the confined areas to retain snow and ice

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/05/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In response to contractors statementHe sat in our (heated) sunroom and told us he could fix the problem we had with water leakageHe gave us example after example of how how many times he fixed similar problems for customersHe never mentioned that we should have an architect involvedIf he was unable to fix the problem than he should not have accepted the job because that was our major problemAll weather is an act of god and the purpose of a roof is to keep that weather outThe insulation in this house has always been well maintained by adding more when necessaryNow we are sitting with a leaky roofWe feel this is a legitimate complaint that other people should be aware of when dealing with this contractor
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2014/06/11) */
The initial problem of water not properly draining during rainfall conditions was completely resolvedHis current claim is about a totally separate problem from the work that was done, as stated above in my initial responseI can not give a guarantee when ice is formed on any section of any roofWhen ice builds and begins to melt, the water that does not have a way to drain will back up vertically and horizontally until it gets into the attic areaThe only way to prevent a leak after ice damming occurs at gutter edge is to chip away ice and allow water to drain properlyOther options this home owner has for prevention of this separate problem is to reframe the low pitched saddle area to eliminate snow and ice from being trapped, which requires the use of an architect
To conclude, all leakage issues with the home owners roof due to rain have been resolved as agreedThe problem he experienced after the ice damming occurred is not due to new roof it is due to the ice damming at the gutter edge
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2014/06/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Our contract states that the contractor would install inches of ice and water shield at gutters edge per codeHe would also install inches of ice and water shield in valleysHe said that installing these ice and water shield would solve our problems
Once again, he states that we need to sit down with an architect, but he never made this suggestion when he took our money to perform this work
