additional issues with his vehicle, possible valve cover reseal, front engine mount is broken, noisy alternator , oil in plug holes, etc. The vehicle is a 1999 with 153,258 miles on it. On [redacted], a non- biased value guide, the value of this vehicle is between $350- $500. When [redacted] picked up his vehicle, the car overheated after he had left. He came back in. He was taken over to the mechanic's stall and visually saw where the radiator had split on the side and the coolant was leaking out. This failure was caused by age and wear, or an internal engine problem. [redacted] authorized the repair for a new radiator, and signed the estimate and the repair order. [redacted] was verbally abusive to [redacted], the service manager, and at no time did [redacted] respond harshly or rudely. In fact, [redacted] gave [redacted] a new [redacted] to drive, at no charge, so he would have a vehicle for the weekend. [redacted] also alleges we damaged his car in April 2017. [redacted] did speak with him about this in April, and [redacted] was supposed to bring the car in for us to look at it. He did not come back in until September 5, with the new problem. We absolutely deny that he was discriminated against because of his race, and have never, at any time tampered with any customer's vehicle. request we ordered a genuine GM part that was coded based upon the customers vin number. The part was installed on the customers vehicle, and shortly after the customer came back stating that the mirror was not operating properly. At this time we checked all the connections and re-verified that we did indeed install the correct part based on the customer's vehicle. We told the customer that everything was installed correctly and that the mirror was indeed the correct mirror for their vehicle. The customer then came back again stating that the mirror was not operating correctly. We then got another new mirror from GM and installed it to check and see if we had a warrant-able parts issue through GM. When we installed the new mirror the operation was identical. We then explained to the customer that there is nothing more that can be done. We had verified that we did install the correct part then ordered and installed a second part to verify that the part was operating correctly.Today, when I received the complaint I researched the issue even further. I was able to verify that the mirror on the customers vehicle went through a supercession with GM back in 2011. A supercession occurs when GM switches suppliers or makes a change to a part. It is possible that when the supercession occurred that the functionality of the part changed slightly. However, there is nothing that we can do about this. This is an issue that the customer must take up with GM directly through their customer service line. At this time we have gone above and beyond to verify that the mirror is functioning properly and that the correct mirror was installed based upon the vehicle vin number. Please let me know if you have any questions.
