Initial Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2015/07/29) */
We have been in construction since 1992 and belong to the local and National Builders Assoc. We have never had a complaint. We take pride in our quality and professional craftsmanship.
The house was built about 75 to 100 yrs ago which means...
it has lath and plaster walls. The house was lifted to replace a small cellar with a complete basement. We had a professional lift several houses for us in the past. The work was performed by all licensed, quality professional contractors in their fields. The city building inspector approved each process of the work performed. The house was lifted, hole dug, block & concrete & windows placed, back filled and ready for seed, plumbing & heat reset along with the final construction done.
With all concrete, concrete gets hard and concrete cracks with stress cracks. We cannot control these changes. As the house adjust to its new foundation there will be changes in the house out of our control. The house is structurally sound on its new foundation.
They do not understand that the hole dug needed to be larger than the house to perform the necessary work for the new foundation in such a limited space. Which meant the rock needed to go and the wood garden along the old foundation which was rotting the plates of the house. We purchased rock, had it delivered to the property and also supplied edging for the rock. We also raked and seeded between the neighbor and property owned by the owner. The neighbor was very satisfied with the way we handled the job in such limited space.
We have done everything in our power to satisfy the property owner which in my opinion will never be happy.
We have done A PROFESSIONAL JOB!
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 17, 2015/07/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First of all Mr. Contracting I understand that the house is 75 to 100yrs old but this is the reason why the house was getting fix in the first place if the house would of been new I would not needed your services and the job was horrible the cracking in the ceiling is worse after your job was done. You say you have professionals lift several houses in the past but this is NOW IN THE PRESENT not the past. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD LIFTING JOB.
About the digging it was suppose to be professional but NO your company did not do a GOOD JOB by removing all the grass and plants in my garden but never backfilled and my GARDEN WAS RUINED. About the rocks you never said what damaged they were doing to my home you just got and threw it away. The foundation steps sidewalks and footing are cracking more than a quarter inch you said that was normal but this is more than that. The interior steps are cracking because your PROFESSIONALS used CHEAP WOOD instead of good wood.
Finally you say that the hole dug needed to be larger that the house to performed the necessary work for the new foundation in such limited space then WHERE IS YOUR PROFESSIONALISM. Don't you supposed to know how to fix this on any size of house isn't this your job. The raked was done to my neighbors side of the house not the one that you were professionally working for. The basement is new but why is it cracking in the basement also. We ask for another opinion with someone else and no one wants to work in it because of your HORRIBLE JOB DONE.If we were pleased with your job done we would not be doing this complained and would of seen my money as a good investment to my home. Not like a HORRIBLE JOB. Also do you think that your Professionalism is to yelled at Mr. Guadalupe and throw him the letter that he took you do to your job done at his home do you call that professional.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 20, 2015/08/14) */
As stated previously, ALL the work was performed by MN licensed professional contractors, all are local contractors and suppliers whom we have worked with for years. The building inspector monitored each process of the work performed from start to finish as per code.
