Rent-A-Wreck of Bangor

Earlier this summer, I financed a 2001 [redacted] 4X4 through this company. My son was with me and looked the vehicle over. He found that the vehicle needed door pins and bushings in both front doors (there was about 1/4 in of slop in the doors upon vertical movement), Bushings were visibly broken. The four wheel drive was not working. You push the four wheel drive button and it would not engage, and there was no notice on any of the paperwork that the air conditioning didn't work. And most importantly, the front tires were 235/75/R15 and both rear tires were 225/75/R15. This causes a serious problem with the drive train when the four wheel drive is engaged, with two completely different sized tires. When two axles spin at different speeds because of the size difference this can cause a transmission, transfer case or a front or rear end to fail. We understood that the vehicle had some age, so we said we would take care of the door pins and accepted the fact the A/C didn't work. We did ask that the 4X4 get repaired and the tires be corrected. The truck was brought back twice because they did not fix the 4X4 the first time it was brought back and just today the tires are still mismatched and winter is coming on. The owner stated that they fixed a couple brake lines that they "didn't need to take responsibility for". I say thanks, but that can be for the times you said the truck was fixed and was not and when I was told it would be ready by 2 today and was not. Furthermore, I think the truck was inspected with bad brake lines, because I have only driven it for approximately 5 months, and summer time climate doesn't rot brake lines. The vehicle was inspected just before we drove it off the lot by Foreign Auto Center. We aren't asking for much, just for a couple used tires that are decent to replace the misfits on the rear which they can keep and are in excellent shape. And to fix the 4X4 correctly. Which they state has been done, but haven't seen this for myself yet. My advice, take care of customers
